Transporting Hard Shelled Kayak

I am considering getting a whitewater kayak and transporting it on the top roof rack but it looks like the antenna on the back would get in the way. If you transport your kayak, do you twist off the antenna every time you want to transport the kayak or are there other solutions?

You can replace the stock antenna with one of the stubby ones if that would work for you. Here’s the one that I got: FSTURIOS Car Short Antenna, 3.15"...

I haven't seen a carrier designed that causes the kayak to interfere with the antenna or the sunroof. Or do you mean to load it just onto the roof directly?

I haven't carried our kayaks on the Bronco Sport, but I do carry them on our Jeep Cherokee which has antenna in the same place. It's only the skinny one that looks like a pencil, but we carried one on either side, so the kayak racks weren't in line with the antenna. If we only had one, I'd give it a try on one side or the other of the antenna.

I ordered one of these and will keep the original antenna.

I have J cradles for my kayak which puts it off center on the roof, thus no issue with the antenna.

I removed the antenna, but still get reception. Obviously that depends on how close you live to the signal.
the stubby one is a great idea, just placed order!
