25 July 2025
This bulletin supersedes 24-2386. Reason for update: update the Service Procedure and Part List.
Model:
Ford
2021-2024 Bronco Sport
2019-2024 Edge
2020-2024 Escape
2022-2024 Maverick
Lincoln
2020-2024 Corsair
2019-2023 Nautilus
Markets: North American markets only

Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit all of the following conditions:

• Shudder chatter condition, most noticeable at low speeds turning
• No diagnostic trouble codes DTCs present
NOTE: Three (3) new Essential Special Service Tools (ESSTs) are required to service the internal clutch pack on vehicles equipped with a single active torque RDU only. These ESSTs are expected to ship to all dealers (US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico) in September 2025. ESST packages were shipped to 100 selected dealers in the US and Canada in May 2025, based on RDU part sales activity. The RDU Internal Clutch Kit and Adhesive Sealant are currently under restricted ordering to ensure ample supply of parts are available to dealers with the ESSTs. All parts are expected to be available for open order by Q4 2025, when the ESSTs are planned to arrive at all dealers.
NOTE: For dealers with the ESSTs and a vehicle in the service department that requires a repair using the new RDU Internal Clutch Kit, submit a VIN-specific No FSA General Contact via the Special Service Support Center (SSSC) Web Contact Site. Type part numbers K2GZ-7C108-A and SU7Z-19B508-A in the comments and attach a copy of the repair order documenting the customer complaint.

Action: For vehicles that meet all the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to repair the vehicle based on ESST availability and vehicle line parameters.

So, what I am getting with the new "tools" is that the people that had this done already likely got lesser fix, and this is a new procedure?

TSB 25-2351 does not say what the Three (3) new Essential Special Service Tools (ESSTs) are however they are required to service the internal clutch pack on vehicles equipped with a single active torque RDU only

TSB 25-2351 is a new Procedure

Also I am not sure if TSB 25-2351 applies to models like the Badlands with Twin-clutch 4x4 Rear Drive Unit. TSB 25-2351 states “… on vehicles equipped with a single active torque RDU only”

TSB 25-2351 (supersedes TSB 24-2386 which supersedes TSB 24-2185 which supersedes TSB 23-2335)
TSB Date: 2025-07-25

So my rdu is going out and getting replaced by the dealership. This tsb is a new one that basically has the dealership try to rebuild the bad rdu as a fix using the special tools instead of replacing it which is cheaper for Ford. My service provider told me this and said that they don't have the tools so they are replacing the rdu with the updated unit. Rather a new one than a rebuilt one.

Well here we go again! No parts availability so we wait. The Fuel Injectors are defective ,no parts avail, But wait aren,t we still building them? Not sure how Ford can explain away these inferior parts and just how will they replace up to 400,000 vehicle parts with the current
Techs who have trouble keeping up with Daily Work as we All know Warranty Work Pays Less.
Maybe Time For A Class Action LawSuit to solve Issues We have been Bringing to their Attention for years!

one last thing it clearly states in the Injector Recall that it could cause a Fire So be careful if you Smell Fuel Do Not Park in an enclosed area!

Fords have so many recalls (90+ so far this year), it will take a lot a lot of time for parts and repairs.

man Ford is literally f-ed…the number of recalls are just out of this world and I wonder about the impact on the company’s reputation over time.

Losing billions on EVs and more cash on recalls. Ford's reputation blows but Fords are still selling with the big discounts and low financing.

This 👆. I looked at Toyota before getting my BS Badlands but new models are also not without issues plus they’re more expensive plus the finance rates are high. No winning these days.

I was looking at '23-'24 low mileage 4Runner SR5 Premiums and the prices went up like crazy due to the new 4Runner being a 4 cyl turbo.

Ya that too. I briefly looked at used and was shocked by the prices. Financing rates also suck for used vehicles. In the end I went with Ford because you can negotiate price, finance rates were the lowest I’ve seen and honestly I really enjoyed driving the Bronco Sport. I’m just hoping it doesn’t give me too many headaches 🤞

At the end of the day as much as recalls suck and no one wants to be going to the dealership more than they have to, I prefer the proactive approach as opposed to breaking down in the middle of nowhere with no heads up something might’ve been wrong that could’ve been prevented (ahem Hyundai).

A hammer, a screwdriver and a crying towel.
I,ve had two dealership Look at and drive my BS only to tell me it was Cylinder deactivation. Now they want to replace parts and glue it back together. Maybe I can get a third dealership to say it is deactivating and use the Florida Lemon Law.
It should be pretty essy since the Techs never read the TSB!

I have entertained a CAL for the past year, posted a poll soliciting for questions to ask to gather data, i.e. "Has your water pump been replaced? Once. More than Once," etc. I posted to the subReddit and was laughed away because, quote, vehicles nowadays are so high tech that there are always going to be problems.

Faulty water pumps and RDU aren't high tech.

Quite frankly I will be the first to sign onto a class-action.

By posting this Ford will take notice and either Quickly replace the defective parts with High Quality replacements or face negative publicity which causes reduction in sales.

I have asked the Techs, Service Writer , Service Managers and Called Ford Support requesting information as to Why they continue to produce New Vehicles but continue to make us wait for Replacement parts. They continue to stall, Just go to any quality parts dealer such as Bosch or NGK and search for Fuel Injectors and they are redily available. Ford appears to want us to wait.
Speak up now to get action, we paid for these vehicles and a warranty! If just one Fuel injector that is defective leaks Fuel onto the Hot Manifold and causes a fire that is Too Risky for me, add in that many of us park in enclosed areas or garages and now our Families are at risk,Stop the insanity Fix the Problem Now!

It's OK as long as their shareholders get paid.
