I got frustrated fighting with cord issues so I got the Motorola MA1. So far, the phone connects everytime, no need to even take it out of my bag. Totally recommend it.

Hoping this becomes available soon again. This seems to be the best option out there that I've seen with a big name behind it. Right now the 3rd party options are about double the price for this and even more on Ebay.

Based on what you posted above your SYNC is up to date - SYNC3 v3.4.21194 is the current version. I'd send you the file anyway but it's 8 Gig.

BTW I also have a Galaxy S10 and have no problems. It connects up as soon as I plug it in. The only problem I had was with the first cable I was using. If I would so much as touch the phone or cable it would disconnect and I would have to unplug replug the USB.

Sorry you are having so much trouble with yours. Maybe look/post on some Android Auto forums.
Thanks for the help. The 3 cables I tried are brand new, also tried another 3 that I had laying around (I have A LOT of cables), most of them just don't work at all and tell me to change the cable or they just don't launch android auto, even though one of them worked perfectly for 2 and 1/2 weeks.

My best guess is the USB connector in your phone (the one that's soldered to the main board) has gotten damaged. If at all possible, try to connect your phone to another vehicle with SYNC 3 and see if you get the same result.

I had an LG phone that I had in my pocket with the USB port up when I got caught in a rain storm. The phone reported water detected in the port, so I let it dry out until the notification went away. After that I could recharge the phone using the USB cable, but it behaved the way you describe yours does when I used it with SYNC. I connected it to the wife's car with the same result. I got it to work with fewer disconnects by pinching the end of one USB cable to make the connection tighter, but it was never perfect after the water incident. The problem disappeared when I upgraded to a new phone.

SYNC is super finicky about the connection. It has to be perfect, and it has to be stable. Rapid connect/disconnects--such as you would get with an intermittent USB port--while running Android Auto causes problems that almost always require a system reset to clear.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I've dropped my phone a few times, not right before it stopped working, but the phone has seen some hard times. I ordered one of those Motorola adapters to connect wirelessly, should be here by the end of the week.

I have the Badlands and when it was about 3 months old, I had the same issue where it worked intermittently. I had to keep unhooking and reconnecting my phone or I had to restart my phone for it to connect and then it stopped working altogether. My dealer said the USB unit was fried and ended up replacing it under warranty. I haven't had a problem since although I may take a look at the Motorola unit as it looks very convenient.

Interesting. Did the USB port still charge the phone when you plugged it in?

Also I keep forgetting even though I did mention it earlier, but my work android phone connects no problem, so I'm still leaning more towards an issue with my phone, the cable, or the AA software on the phone or vehicle.

edit - just tested work phone again to double check and it immediately started up AA.

No my phone wouldn't charge when plugged in so I presume that's how they knew it needed replacing.
Mine still charges just fine inside and outside of the car with a wired connection, so I have no idea what is going on. I should have my motorola wireless adapter by Monday so I guess I'll see if that gets me connected. Otherwise I'm going to have to look into buying a new phone which I'm not happy about.

I had another episode with android auto not connecting today. Before I was able to uninstall it and reinstall everything and it would work again till something undated. Well today my fix worked for one connection and after that kept telling me about cable.....I knew it was not going to fix the issue but I still tried...nope not the connection.
Come one Ford...

You probably don't want to hear this but after trying about 8 different cables, factory resetting my entire phone, unlinking the phone and relinking it with the Bronco Sport countless times, then buying one of those wireless Yamaha Android Auto adapters (which still didn't work). I ended up caving and buying a new phone. It worked immediately and has continued to work. I ended up getting a S20 FE. I was eligible for an upgrade through Verizon, and the phone cost me around $370. It was probably the cheapest phone they had, but it was also the only one that still had an SD card slot, and I still use mp3's on my phone to listen to music, so I had no other choice.

One thing to note though, the Yamaha adapter likely would have worked with my old phone if I had simply not uninstalled the software from my phone and removed the phone in the bluetooth settings because in order for the adapter to work, you first need to make sure you're connected normally to your vehicle with a USB cable. Once that is working, then you plug the adapter in and connect via bluetooth and you're good to go, but I believe the problem for me was something to do with the USB port on my phone itself.

Today it started to work again...I did not do anything different, same old cable, same old phone...I'm blaming sync/android auto. It did prompted me to setup android auto on the car screen today.

You might want to get one of those Yamaha adapters then, it might solve your problems if you don't have to worry about plugging in a cable. Occasionally it will have issues like it will pop up with Google Maps just fine when i start the vehicle, but my music player (poweramp) simply isn't there, and you need to unplug the Yamaha dongle and plug it back in, but other than that it works great and I don't notice any loss of audio quality.
