Do you happen to have a link to that article? They are the tires in the picture.
Ford was quoted in a Car&Driver/Motor Trend article saying the largest tire you can fit on a Badlands or First Edition is a 30.5" tire. 245/65/17 are 29.5", so no need to modify anything if you go with that size.

A Ford engineer tells us owners can upgrade to 30.5-inch tires without any clearance problems, but 31s won't fit without increasing the height of the suspension.

I'm interpreting that to mean a lift will allow 31" tires. I didn't think the constraint was height, but rather width of the wheel well common to the pinch welds. I'm suspicious.....
Thanks, appreciate your time in gathering information . Looks like that 255 might be a bit of a stretch. For a first edition .From tiresize.com calculator

255 without a lift definitely will rub off-road. I'm going to put 245/65/17 KO2s on mine at some point. Thanks, appreciate your time in gathering information . Looks like that 255 might be a bit of a stretch. For a first edition .

Same here , thanks again .255 without a lift definitely will rub off-road. I'm going to put 245/65/17 KO2s on mine at some point.
I agree with you Tburner. It is stated clearly the BS BL will fit a tire up to 30.5 inches without clearing problems, but with the proper lift will accomodate a 31 incher.I'm interpreting that to mean a lift will allow 31" tires. Be the trail-blazer, @Bamsi! Get a lift and try to stuff some 31s in there!I agree with you Tburner. It is stated clearly the BS BL will fit a tire up to 30.5 inches without clearing problems, but with the proper lift will accomodate a 31 incher.
DON'T DO IT! Clearance issues are more than just tire diameter. In your case a 265/65/17, in combination with the increased diameter you're adding a significant increase in width. A terrible combination.Just got my 22 Badlands and have been researching new tire/rims combos. Reading thru this post makes me wonder that if I go with the 1.25" HRG lift kit would I be able to go with 265/65/17 tires?
From what tire size comparison site says the Diameter would be 30.6" so may work right? Of course tire revs would make the speed to be off at 70 mph to actual of 73.9 mph.
We're all itching to see what the tallest tire is that we can stuff in the wheel well. Take one for the team and find out! Adding width will increase interference when turning the wheels. If you want to push the limit get a 245/70/17 and expect to need to cut back the fender liner and trim the pinch weld.
