Has anybody received any feedback from Ford about missing engine covers?
Maybe if enough people complain Ford will rectify this...

Hello,

Just got my Big Bend today and I'm proud to announce that I'm in the "missing cover" team :cwl:

Thanks to your post I was able to detect it, if not I would think is just the way the make them.
I've just texted the dealership asking for it. Is this something I should worry about concerning the engine or is just for looking and prevent a little bit of dust?

Thank you.

I’d get one, as I believe it keeps the most intense heat away from the hood, helps the engine warm up faster, provides some sound deadening and the number one reason to have one is you gain entry in the I got mine club :’P

My wife's BS arrived at the dealer on October 28, but sat a month waiting for the new fuel sending assembly on recall. Of course it did not have the engine cover . Before I even found this discussion I realized that pictures I had seen were different than our engine compartment. It took me awhile to order the parts online - I found Tasca Ford in RI had the cheapest price to me. Just don't tell them it's for a BS - they have the parts listed under Escapes. They came in two days ago and I installed it this morning. I did install the studs with green Loctite (low strength) The bracket is a little tough to get off. I could not pull it off by hand. I sprayed some silicone inside and used a small pry bar just to left of the stud and it popped right off. I think the cover looks great if nothing else and so does my wife. Some before and after pictures.

The dealer is definitely going to know right off if they do any work that what you added is not the proper engine cover. The fit, look and coverage is completely different.

Wonder if they will throw a shoe about that and try to Blame your cover if something breaks.

Below is your cover (first)and a pic of the actual cover (Second)

Personally I would wait if is back ordered and put the correct part on.

Apologies. I looked at your profile badge and not the badge on the BS in the profile pic. I should have spent more time looking at the bay :) You would think the BS 1.5 would have a larger coverage cover.

It looks exactly the same, but the fact you had to put some Loctite and silicone on it sounds weird to me knowing that the cars without the cover (like mine) it actually has the mounting for the cover installed.
Looks like you did a good job, just hope it doesn't affect the warranty.

That 1.5 looks way bigger without the cover ? I got confused when I opened my hood.

Good grief! The first one is for the 1.5L 3 cylinder, the second one is for the 2.0 4 cylinder. Both are OEM engine covers!!!

My guess is most dealers are not going to know or care if it shipped with a cover or not if it goes in for warranty work.

Yeah I did not look close enough. I went off his profile badge which was a badlands one for his BS not realizing his wife had a 1.5 one. He already caught that for me…must be too much tequila!
