I purchased an extra warranty through dealership, it’s a company called “permaplate”. I’ve been contacting them to get this fixed through them, but seems like they are not very helpful either.
Can you cancel the warranty and get a refund? How about filing an insurance claim?

Yeah i think i will see if i can cancel that warranty coz it’s useless. And i got the approval from ford today they are gonna replace the whole hood and repaint it. Feel much better!! According to Ford, it’s gonna be covered for 32k miles. But i don’t understand why all the other ford bodyshops said they cannot do it through ford, saying it’s not manufacturer defect!! It is obviously and proven now since i got the approval from only one ford bodyshop who was willing to help me finally!!!

Nice, glad to hear it. For the people who post here at least, it seems like Ford is generally resolving various issues -- once you get a good dealership involved, anyway.

that is so true! But it’s just hard to find a good one. Anyone having a same problem, plz go to a ford bodyshop or a dealer who will submit the approval for fixing it. Ford is gonna approve it and they will also provide you a loaner. Some bodyshops will try to make it look like it’s your fault but this is not supposed to happen to a brand new car..

Hubby bought a 2019 F250. Within a month, paint was bubbling on the hood. Dealer said whatever they did to the aluminum to make the paint stick was defective. Got a new hood. Needless to say there were other issues with the truck and got a 2020 replacement thru the Lemon Law.

I remember back in the late 1980's/early 1990's, Ford had some really bad adhesion issues with some paints on vehicles. I remember seeing sheets flaking off of some cars down to the primer that were not that old.
Add Chevy and Dodge to those issues it all was a result of new EPA solvent emission regulations.
Some makers went after water based paint with little success hence those poor paint jobs. The biggest problems were drying times and time needed between prime and top coats. They got better after some growing pains but not to the quality levels of solvent based paint.

At that time solvent fumes were routinely vented outside and most if not all the car paint shops were built that way. My Ford plants paint shop (1980) was built to capture solvent emissions and was Ford's first to do so. Huge investment. It's a long complicated process I won't bore you with even if I could remember all the exact steps. Short version - all air from paint operation is filtered, burnt, filtered and then carbon filtered. They still use solvent based paint to this day though paint formulations have evolved to need less solvent.

THIS is why dealers try to sell you a ceramic coating at purchase, to avoid this kind of thing happening :(

Sorry this is the case, maybe the dealer can take a look? I've had paint issues fixed for free under warranty in the past, you might get lucky.
Get it done a lot cheaper and more professional than at a dealership, but that shouldnt happen in the first place.

Dang do your local birds poop lava?? That's terrifying. All kidding aside, yeah ceramic coating or good layers of wax help. And cleaning bird crap asap. It will eventually eat through a finish. That's not nice
"Bird sh## is pretty abrasive stuff. In fact, the world’s leading experts on avian excrement, have concluded that the acidic pH levels found within bird crap are far more corrosive than previously predicted.

If allowed to sit for too long, bird droppings have the ability to slowly eat their way into a clear coat, and if exposed to high temps and/or UV rays, will create a semi-permanent etching that is an absolute bi&&h to remove"
“Aside from the general inconvenience, droppings can actually leave behind permanent damage because of their acidic content. When under the sun, droppings can harden and eat away at your paint.”
That is way to much knowledge about bird excrement.
Everyday as I get older I realize more and more how I have very little understanding of the world I live in.
Great answer though.

Essentially all appearance protection plans cannot be canceled. Once the product is applied then it's yours. It's 100% a profit center for the dealer. Dealers love non-cancellable products like appearance protection, the dealer isn't responsible for chargebacks due to cancellations. Some of the chemicals do actually work, you're really just paying for the guarantee and the dealer just wipes on a glorified quick detail spray.
