Hello,

I purchased a brand new ford Bronco sports outer banks 3 months ago, and some bird poop fell on my front hood, and the paint came off. I noticed some cracks in paint as well on my front hood. I’m wondering if it’s this easy that paint comes off for a brand new car. Because I’ve never had a paint issue with my previous cars with any bird poop or whatever. I think this is really poor paint job personally. Anyone going through the same issue? How can Ford compensate for this?

THIS is why dealers try to sell you a ceramic coating at purchase, to avoid this kind of thing happening :(

Sorry this is the case, maybe the dealer can take a look? I've had paint issues fixed for free under warranty in the past, you might get lucky.

Dang do your local birds poop lava?? That's terrifying. All kidding aside, yeah ceramic coating or good layers of wax help. And cleaning bird crap asap. It will eventually eat through a finish. That's not nice
"Bird sh## is pretty abrasive stuff. In fact, the world’s leading experts on avian excrement, have concluded that the acidic pH levels found within bird crap are far more corrosive than previously predicted.

If allowed to sit for too long, bird droppings have the ability to slowly eat their way into a clear coat, and if exposed to high temps and/or UV rays, will create a semi-permanent etching that is an absolute bi&&h to remove"
“Aside from the general inconvenience, droppings can actually leave behind permanent damage because of their acidic content. When under the sun, droppings can harden and eat away at your paint.”

I remember back in the late 1980's/early 1990's, Ford had some really bad adhesion issues with some paints on vehicles. I remember seeing sheets flaking off of some cars down to the primer that were not that old.

Yup had a 1993 Tempo and most of the paint on the trunk came off and above back windshield. GM had the same issues

I purchased an extra warranty through dealership, it’s a company called “permaplate”. I’ve been contacting them to get this fixed through them, but seems like they are not very helpful either. They said it’s from “chemical” stuffs trying to not to cover for it, not from “bird poop” while the technitian who inspected my car said very clearly it’s from bird poop.. after i called them multiple times, they are saying they need an estimate,. Very shitty service.

How did they deal with this issue? Any recall or service done from GM?

Wow, I've heard of it happening, but have never actually seen it happen. I had thought the clear coats of todays cars protected from that kind of stuff better.

Co worker of mine had '87 mustang GT and paint flaked off around two years old. Dealer repainted entire car under warrantee. Back then any orig owner who came back and complained got a repaint but was kept quiet otherwise. And that repainted mustang had a way better then factory paint done by the dealer.

They are supposed to be. Make Ford own up and fix it. Bird crap did not do that on mine.

Ford repainted my 89 Bronco with almost 90K miles on it for free for this reason.
