Bent crank sensor. 2700 miles. 4 months old. Setting off numerous codes and drivablity issues. 37 days later and we got it back. Going on a long trip to test out next weekend. Outer Banks 1.5 ~ Service advisor said that I got a rebuilt Engine. Hmmmmm :(

Hope it was at least a 2021 rebuild You still have a lot of warranty left so I would not hesitate taking it back to the dealer at the slightest rough running or unusual vibration. Wonder if they could upgrade the 1.5 for the 2.0?

The Engine was rebuilt for a bent Crank sensor ? What bent it , the Crank ? In that case you should have got a new Engine , not a rebuilt one .

Have you contacted Ford? For a new vehicle with <3k miles, I'd expect a new engine, not a rebuilt one!

Given a rebuilt engine so early in the ownership phase, I would at least lobby for something like a lifetime powertrain warranty. If dealerships can offer this on some vehicles out of the gate, then Ford should offer similar as a confidence booster to a shaken new owner.

The lifetime powertrain warranty my dealer gave me is looking good right now.

Sorry to hear this! Just curious was there any noise or signs of the sensor bending / going bad before the codes started alerting you?

I wonder why the Service Manager told you that you got a rebuilt engine because Ford does not offer a Rebuilt engine for the BS yet. I work in the parts dept at a Ford Dealership and know there is NO WAY you got a rebuilt engine because they don't exist yet. Any engine replaced during current MY production will always get a factory NEW engine. I checked our Ford Catalog and the only engine Ford offers right now is NEW. Did he maybe mean they rebuilt your engine? It's possible they just repaired you engine. I'm curious if your work order has any part #'s like 6009 or 6006. I can help you figure out what work they actually did.

Thanks for the info...list's as follows. 1NNJX6Z*6006*N SERVICE ENGINE ASY (N/C)
Service adviser told me it was a rebuilt. Maybe he meant it was being rebuilt ? I was going to attach my invoice but that turned into a pain in the butt. what I was told is the crank sensor on the crank it self was bent so that justified a new engine. How it got bent...no idea. Caused massive check engine light and drive-ability codes. Car thought a collision was happening. Anyway, taking it down to Las Vegas over the Holiday to put some mileage on it. Thanks for any words of wisdom you can pass along.

No signs except for the dash warning lights, check engine -including collision eminate going off. Car would not restart for several minutes blocking a gas station driveway. Took to dealer and naturally they found nothing wrong. Second time it happened we had ford road side tow it in and they found the bent crank sensor. Hopefully all is well now.

There are probably more then one way to bend a Crankshaft Sensor , but only one I can think of & that makes sense , & that would be the Crankshaft main bearing(s) failed & let the Crankshaft hit the Sensor .
I would not let them rebuild anything , new Motor or they can keep it , period . Good luck , you may need it :fingerscrossed:

Hey Steve
The part # JX6Z-6006-N is a NEW Complete Engine from Ford. I know It sucks to have an engine replaced so soon but you can feel better that it was NOT a rebuilt engine and they did not rebuild yours. All manufacturers are required to use new parts for repairs when the vehicle is still under Bumper to Bumper warranty. After the 3/36 warranty the engine is covered under the Power Train warranty which would still require a NEW engine. Hope this makes you feel a little bit better.

It makes ME feel better knowing that if it happened to me, I'd get a new engine, not a rebuilt one.
