Auto Start/Stop Disabled?

Hopefully someone has some experience with this: My auto start/stop appears to be permanently disabled, no matter how many times I toggle the button. Any ideas on how to turn it on?

In my experience it won't function if the AC or Defrost are running. Check that.

If you are in sport mode, it is disabled.

According to the owners manual, it gets enabled after the following conditions are met:

The system is enabled every time you start your vehicle if the following conditions are
met:
• You do not press the Auto-Start-Stop button.
• Your vehicle exceeds an initial speed of 3 mph (5 km/h) after the vehicle initially starts.
• Your vehicle is stopped.
• Your foot is on the brake pedal.
• The transmission is in drive (D).
• The driver door is closed.
• There is adequate brake vacuum.
• The interior compartment has cooled or warmed to an acceptable level.
• The front windshield defroster is off.
• The steering wheel is not being turned.
• The vehicle is not on a steep road slope.
• The battery is within optimal operating conditions, such as battery state of
charge and temperature in range.
• The engine coolant is at operating temperature.
• Your vehicle is not being driven at a high altitude.
• The ambient temperature is moderate.

I think I’ve mentioned it in other threads...it is the ONLY feature I really don’t like at all.

Ok I to did not like the Auto stop/start at first and found It rather useless for me because I Live in the country out side of a small town, no real traffic.
I decided to Ignore it for a time and not switch it off.
I got used to it and after a short time It Is no longer a bother at all.
It became a non-Issue for me, I'm good.

Most develop the habit of switching if at start-up -- easy. I find it totally unobtrusive -- restart process and effect at takeoff were virtually unnoticed. It is a sort of crestfallen feeling to hear it shut down at a stop light though -- a little unnerving at first, I've never had a vehicle with this feature, but it is NOTHING in the way of inconvenience. I understand also that some critical modes (Crawl mode ex.?) don't permit auto start-stop -- good thing. The computer will read the current driving situation anytime and disable the feature as needed, as well. The Engineering Explained guy on YouTube demonstrates how we, collectively over time, waste A TON of fuel and money idling in traffic without this feature. Systems designed for it suffer nothing from it, and you save money and pollute less.

I am starting to like it. My morning commute is nice roads with great MPG. My evening commute is awful with lots of stop lights . I appreciate the shutting the engine to save fuel. You get used to it and learn how to anticipate traffic will start moving and getting the engine on again to be ready to run.

Yep, ease up on the brake pedal but not enough to roll,, The engine starts, press the brake back down. Your cocked and ready.

That's what I use in my Cherokee, works great, and it's much easier to install in the Sport.
