Here's how worried I am about an engine cover.

Here I always thought it was an insulated table to hold your beer while wondering where to start fixing an issue.

When I used to work on my Triumph Spitfire, the hood would rotate forward like a clam shell. I would sit on the tire and place tools and a beer on the shelf in front of the wind screen.

I am probably in the minority, but I am glad I did not get the cover. The first Fall I had my BS [Sept. 2024] I was doing a check before going on a road trip. Right there on top of the engine was a pile of twigs, grass, and seeds. Would of all been hidden if I had the cover. I cleaned out all of the mess and zip tied a couple of TomCat bait stations in the engine bay. Also put a piece of hardware cloth on top of my cabin air filter. I have not seen any more signs of Mr. Mouse

Add me to your side. I think engine covers are an unnecessary expense. The first thing I did when I bought my Mustang GT was remove the engine cover. When I opened the hood I wanted to see a Coyote not a piece of plastic yelling 5.0!!!!

I know they look nice but they keep the heat in, maybe good for the winter.
I think Ford cut them out for a reason, saving money on warranty calls rather than trim.

They cut them out due to import tariffs and supply. The engine cover 21-24 Bronco Sport is a thick foam cover unlike most thin plastic decorative covers. It will greatly reduce the ticking noise from the high pressure fuel pump in the cabin area. Keeping the heat in is actually a good thing and it will prevent multiple cold starts when running errands. Most high end packages have a hood blanket\liner mounted to the underside of the hood to do the same thing. Lower end models do not have this blanket\liner installed.

I hate to break it to you BUT it does retain heat. It covers a significant portion of the engine, heat rises, it only moves horizontally when it meets a restriction, then that trapped heat further heats whatever it passes over that normally would have dissipated its own heat.
is it enough to cause a heat soak problem? Maybe yes, maybe not, but it will still make things hotter...

maybe if you start the car and never drive it, if you are driving everything in the engine bay and front end is designed to creat an air flow all around the engine, to help with cooling by removing hot stagnent air.

The lack of an engine cover is typical for the de-contenting practice by Ford/Lincoln where inconsequential parts are eliminated either intentionally for cost cutting or unintentionally due to supply or contract issues.

My wife had an '18 CR-V with an engine cover for its 1.5L turbo. I believe the '20+ models don't have an engine cover, probably due to supply problems early. After that, Honda and other auto manufacturers noticed why spend the money on engine covers. The public doesn't care. Most don't even look under the hood. My wife now has an '23 HR-V EX-L without a turbo and still doesn't have an engine cover.

Ford sold 4.3M vehicles in '24-'25. No engine cover has saved the company 10s of millions. Maybe a small amount, but perhaps not for a company that is hemorrhaging money due to recalls, warranty work, and TSBs.

Watch the movie "A Faster Horse" It's about the entire process of designing and building the 100% redesigned 2015 Mustang. You would be surprised just how much a small plastic retaining push pin saves the company money. That engine cover would definitely save them millions in just one year. Remember they removed the engine cover but they never lowered the price of the Bronco Sport. Ford took something away and still charged you the same amount for it.

Many vehicles, including turbos have engine covers today. The heat thing is BS. It's the cost savings on each vehicle sold. Automobile manufacturers have been deleting items. Looks at the last 4-5 years on the BS.

Yep, my 2021 Bronco Sport Outer Banks did not come with one.
