Ditto. Had oil changed the week prior and oil level was set back to 45%, which makes me think the update process does not store the current oil life and simply performs a new calculation based on mileage. I manually reset it back to 100%. Not sure if FORScan can set it to non zero number, but it's close enough.
I will check with my service rep and see if the oil life is an update issue or if he wants me to just reset it to 100%.

There is only 600 miles on the oil change so obviously shouldn't be at 36%

I screwed up on the tire pressure issue. I checked my tire pressures on Saturday and the brain housing group F.U. and added 36 PSI to my right rear tire. Corrected that this morning and all is well with that.

I'm guessing since the cluster is contains safety related functions, and if the update bricks the cluster and renders the vehicle undrivable, it would open Ford to lawsuits.

Subsystem in ClusterClassificationReason
SpeedometerSafety-related (ASIL B / Class B)Driver needs accurate speed info
Warning lights (ABS, airbags, brakes)Safety-critical (ASIL C / Class C)Alerts to life-critical faults
Fuel & temp gaugesOperational (ASIL B / Class 2)Prevents breakdowns, overheating
Infotainment displayComfort (ASIL A / Class 1)Non-safety, convenience features
This is exactly what my dealer told me. If the software update ends up bricking it, it will take 5 hours to reflash the entire system so they told me to plan for a 5 hour visit, even if it takes 10 minutes, they have seen it brick. I go in Thursday morning.

Update #2. I received info from my service advisor about the oil life % issue.

Hate to admit it but my brain is slowly losing it.

I swear the oil life was around 90% when I looked at it. That must have been a vision from my previous life.

The tech had him take a photo of the parameters before he started the update. Don't know if this is SOP or not. The oil life was at 36% before the update was done. He did send a copy of the photo.

My only excuse is I'm 78 and can still remember my name but obviously not some other details from a week ago.

So then I questioned him, why with only 600 miles from the last oil change, is the oil life at 36%.

The only thing possible he said was that Joe Schmuck, disguised as a "tech" forgot to reset the oil life monitor.

I asked him to send me a copy of the invoice showing that the oil was actually changed which he did. He said to go ahead and reset the OLM as the actual oil life is closer to 100% than 36%.

That's my story and my excuse for it. Maybe next year will be better.

Despite my overall satisfaction with Sanderson Ford and their service team, I absolutely despise the effect that AI and automation is having on their workflow.

I had my Bronco Sport in this morning from 7:30 to 8:10 to have the instrument cluster recall issue fixed. This evening I get the following text from them:

Hi Don, this is the Service Department Team from Don Sanderson Ford. Your 2025 Ford Bronco Sport may have an instrument panel cluster that fails at startup, hiding key warnings or speed info and increasing crash risk. It is really important to get this recall fixed and our team can do this for you at no charge. We have limited availability over the next few weeks, when are you available for an appointment? You can text me back.

Shaking my head in amazement.

Best part is it doesn't respond to you texting back.

Got the notice in today's mail, so I scheduled the recall fix via phoning an actual human being at Sanderson for first thing Friday morning. Close enough to 5K miles, so I scheduled an oil/filter change as well. I would normally get the service done at Sun Devil Auto, but I decided to give the dealer an opportunity. Besides, I can get brekkies at the Starliner.

They confirmed the texts they've sent about the recall are "computer generated", and sounded as unimpressed by them as I was.

Check the dealer website for deals on "The Works" Sometimes my dealer has a coupon for $10 off.
