I trusted a mobile paint and dent repair guy who got great reviews on yelp. My friends said it could never be done, and I’d better take it to a body shop. In the comfort and privacy of my own garage, it went from this to that - in 1/2 day. I hope I never need him again, but now he’s in my contacts for good. And my Bronquito is happy again. Did he push the dent out? I once watched a fellow who went to dealerships and fixed small dents by rubbing the out from the back sides on doors and anywhere else he could get into. No filler or paint just buff the clear coat to remove the scuffs.

I missed much of the process, but he somehow pulled the dent out because he didn’t take the door apart or take it off. He wrapped the entire car, then exposed only the door. He spent a good while sanding the door down. He then fixed what had to be fixed, and primered the door. He had a complete body shop all inside his very large Sprinter Van. He mixed the exact paint (desert sand) in his truck, painted the door, then clear-coated it. The exact code for the paint, he told me, is on the car (somewhere).

Average car sold is now over $50,000. Insurance rates, parts and repairs all go up to keep pace with that. I really wish a lot more people would accept a simple, well done job like that mobile body shop. I bet that was a fraction of a full body shop cost and it looks great.

The only thing that surprises me, or maybe it is and the pic doesn't show well, if there is a whole plastic mask behind the door. Just slipped in and the door closes on the plastic. Did he actually shoot the whole door, or just left room for blending?

Yeah, everyone's paint code is on the sticker in the door jamb, with the VIN, next to the tire pressure sticker. You can use the code to grab a set of touch up markers or paint pots.

These arrived today. Haven't found the spot on the BS I want to place the flag, but the sticker will end up on the laptop I use for FORScan/Bambu/Xtool.

Well I had a very good day, I had what I thought was a snag on the backside of my leather steering wheel which I would forget about when I left the vehicle. It bothered the heck out of me that my new vehicle had this blemish that I felt every time I turned a corner. So today I remembered and was about to look up how best to smooth it when I decided to have a look, a damp cloth cured it with a few wipes.

There's nothing you have to do, but if you're looking at changing factory settings yourself, then yes, a laptop would be needed. FORScan is Windows-only in the desktop environment, which can be managed with a MacBook via a VM like Parallels and a Windows license. I decided to go with a little "garage" laptop as I use it for other things, like my 3D printer and laser.

You'd still need the appropriate ODB dongle to connect to the car in either case.

Any fault code on the road that disables the car (or puts it in limp mode) should generally not be cleared just to keep rolling. Best to have it towed to a shop and avoid further damage.

i did the same thing for the first time. Funny thing about it was that nobody realized it said Bruno and not Bronco
