Had the TSB done and it didn't fix anything. The charging unit is a P.O.S.
lol well the wireless charge pad in ‘21-‘24s effectively outputs about 3.5W if the phone isn’t moving around and the wireless pad does charge up the phone as expected for a 3.5W charger … it’s not fast like a 20W charger at home or from the USB-C port in the Bronco Sport which is about a max of 8.5W I recall when I measured it

My Motorola RAZR+ charges just fine even folded and in its case. Maybe some other issue going on here.

So far everyone I’ve seen post about their Motorola RAZR phone stated they have been happy with the Bronco Sport wireless charge pad

And in fact a number of Android phones I’ve seen owners post no issues charging on the wireless charge pad (some had issues)

But in general it seems like many more iPhone owners don’t care for the charge rate provided by the wireless charge pad so it’s not unusual based on the number of postings on this topic

And that’s when the phone isn’t moving around on and away from the wireless charge pad which makes charging worse

Example, see post #10: “FWIW my new iPhone 16e(not MagSafe) works perfectly, even with a snakehive wallet case. I have a '22 OBX. Previous phones just overheated...”

16e: does not have built-in MagSafe functionality. While it supports Qi wireless charging, it lacks the magnets needed for MagSafe accessories and faster MagSafe charging speeds (the ‘21-‘24 wireless charge pad is Qi and also not MagSafe)

My iPhone 15 Pro charges ok (as expected at 3.5W) on the wireless charge pad after I had TSB 22-2485-A0 (or latest) Wireless Charging
WACM software updates completed

I’ve stayed away from the wireless adaptors …most (but not all) I’ve seen reports on have low ratings and eventually have issues but at least most don’t cost a lot

Plugging in to the USB-C port works just fine for me … CarPlay comes up every time and keeps the phone charged

No advantage for wireless CarPlay for my needs and no need to use the wireless charge pad

If you need to charge your phone quickly in the vehicle, use the USB-C port and plug your phone in.

I use the wireless charger to keep a fully charged phone near 100% on a long trip.

That's what I do, I put mine on the charger to at least keep the charger, and sometimes it will charge up some!

it won't keep up, or just break even if you are using android auto, but then you can have the USB c charging as they won't do wireless so all the charge pad becomes is a phone heater. haha

I use the Apple wireless charging pads which I keep in my console. The Apple pad offers the fastest charging. The Ford supplied pad is pure junk. The magnet is too week to hold the phone or center the phone over the charger.

there isn't a magnet in the ford on, it is just charging coils. only apple uses magnets to hold this phone in a specific position, that I know of. personally I don't want magnets near my phones as I use a wallet case.

Mine has a very week magnet. The charging pad was an option for the 2023 BS. I found it almost useless.

it is a standard feature in my 2023 outer banks, any metal will activate the charger and it will get hot

I wonder if what you are felling is a magnetic field created by the coils when they activate, or maybe there is a very week magnet in there that is used to detect when something is placed there and turn on the charger. I'll have to check mine out when i finish my coffee.

Yea, the wireless charger in the BS is pathetic. I drove for nearly an hour and my battery percentage maybe went up 5% and the phone was hot as lava. Haven't used it since. It's a shame because it's the perfect place to put your phone while driving. Maybe there's a way to disable it that I'm not aware of.
Just put something on top of the charger, I use a little squishy thing then put phone on top of that.

I just lay my iPhone face down on the charging pad — doesn’t activate the charger and keeps phone handy.
ya my android doesn't car which way it is laying. I'm going to have to look at some sort of pad that will stop anything from activation the charger
