I’m awaiting an appraiser to assess the damage from Friday. I have 106K miles on my 22 Badlands. Factory hitch looks bent too.

You have my sympathy, but have a feeling it looks worse than it is — though at repair prices it’ll cost a lot. Hope the other “guy” has good insurance.

So the Tow hitch took all de impact? There's no damage on the bumper or hatch door?!
I see the damage on the bumper now, I also see a "door ding" right above the R letter from bRonco

Your mileage is amazing and my 23 Big Bend has had to have a water pump at 60K miles. My other suggestion would be to give yourself time to stop slowly so you don't get rear-ended during a hard stop.

I had been sitting still in traffic for at least a minute trying to figure out which lane was the best lane to be in when I got hit. It completely took me by surprise. I never saw it coming.

The hitch is (bolted) part of the frame... that repair will be costly unfortunately.

It is made to crumple.
