It's been 2months without ANY brake moan/howl/squeal when backing up. After all the Dealer TSB corrections it made no difference. Decided to just replace the pads myself. Went with the basic pads O'Reilly's carries. Added plenty of lube to pad/caliper contact points and slider pins. Was doubtful it was going to make a difference but it did! Fingers crossed that success continues into the colder weather and longer term. I'm sure my neighbors appreciate the effort!

Nope, just your basic off the shelf stuff. (They didn't have full ceramic)

When I replaced with ceramic whale noise was gone for a while, but it is now back. I did have 4 or 5 months of quiet though. ?‍♀
I don't think the pad material is as important as the installation. Use of anti-squeal lube between the pads and calipers along with careful attention to lubricating the guide pins is key. The anti-squeal lube damps the resonant vibration between the pads/calipers and well-lubricated guide pins reduces friction between the pads and calipers when your foot is off the brake pedal.

Several moths ago I wrote here that the service writer at my dealer said that ceramics would fix it but Ford will not do it. Ford says that metallic brakes are necessary! He said that the problem lies in the fact that there is a copper shortage and pads are now being made with less metal in them.

I keep my BS/FE Garaged mostly. In situations when I left it outside overnight rust would get on the brake rotor surface and squeal in reverse until rust was removed by pads. When reversing from dry garage storage I get no squeal or moans.
