Replacing Wheel Well Liners

Hello, I just picked up a 2022 BS Big Bend and noticed that one of the front wheel well liners has wear marks. They are cheap enough to replace but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what causes this.

Hello, I just picked up a 2022 BS Big Bend and noticed that one of the front wheel well liners has wear marks. They are cheap enough to replace but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what causes this.

Where and what do the wear marks look like? Pics would help. Could be from anything. Normal wear and tear, rubbing tires if they are too big, etc.

Thanks Jmuns - I completely agree about adding pics. I bought the vehicle a few hundred miles away and won’t have it here for a few more weeks.

Replaced the wheel well liners today - pretty straightforward project. My guess is they ripped by picking up a branch or a stick. Good thing they are cheap to replace. Also there was a fair bit of leaves that collected behind one of the corners - so I got to clean that out too.

Please verify these are the correct parts for you, but this is what I ordered...
Right wheel well liner: M1PZ-16102-A
Left wheel well liner: M1PZ-16103-C

Has anyone considered pulling the wheel well liners, spraying them with some kinda bed coating material, and then reinstalling them. The thought has been in the back of my mind for some time now. ?

i had to talk to ford - as when you put a “-B” for the left it indicated the part is no longer available. New part number has a “-C”

I edited my original post for the Badlands part #’s to use ‘C’ suffix thanks! (I did find the ‘B’ parts and ‘C’ parts available at online internet Parts stores)

Many have commented on the "cheapness" of the liner material. I mentioned in an earlier thread (years back) that there are many advantages to using such material for a liner such as weight, replaceability, and cost. Your post reinforces my belief that Ford considers wheel well liners to be wear items, especially for those who intend to take their vehicles off road.

That’s probably a pretty good point about the extra weight. Thanks. That hadn’t occurred to me. ??

Based on what I saw, I would be more concerned about leaves and dirt trapped behind the liner. I had a build up in the back corner. I think I will get into the habit of annually pulling the last plastic rivet (right by the door for the front wheel well liners) and clearing out the junk that collects there. Honestly - the liners seem pretty tough, I think my vehicle just picked something like a branch and dragged it across the liner.
