WE have a 2023 Eruption Green Bronco Sport Big Bend (BS BB) and really like it. It replaced a 2012 Escape. My wife wanted the BS because it looked and drove like the 2012 Escape. She didn't like the newer Escape because they look like a little foreign car.

Thanks for that.. Did you get the extended warranty? I guess i should have asked the question earlier...

See you on the road!
Welcome Manny!

Just curious -- in the OP you said you are leasing. I've never leased, but my understanding is that the dealer/mfr covers all repairs (and sometimes maint. too). So why consider an extended warranty?

The lease only covers you for 3 yrs, I took a 5yr lease and wanted it extended. It also gives you a few more things like car rental and ... hmm.. let me read the fine print again.. but, ya...i wanted peace of mind cause if all goes well, I'd buy it..or turn it in in 3yrs for the NEW Bronco Sport... and you can use the value from it in you next model.

Piece of mind is a good reason to get an extended warranty.

If piece of mind is not an issue then my advice is to skip extended warranties. They are "betting against the house" (the underwriter) -- and they have all of the average failure rate and repair cost data. The house always wins (overall).

Sure, there are a few "winners", and they will brag to anyone who will listen, while the many "losers" who never got a dime back stay quiet -- giving the impression that an extended warranty is a good investment.

Generally speaking, it is best to be self-insured for as much as possible -- smaller ticket items. Most of us cannot be self-insured for our homeowner's; health; auto; and life & disability (if necessary). A car might fall into either group, depending on a person's finances -- which is where the piece of mind often comes in. But if an owner can be self-insured against unexpected repairs they will be better off (on average).

One other case where it might make sense to consider an extended warranty is in situations where the vehicle will be subjected to particularly hard use (not abuse). That is a case where a person has a better chance of getting some/all of their money back -- because the warranties are priced based on the average use..

I realize you may be joking, but it's not too late too cancel.

Even if you do decide you want a warranty -- you can buy them at a good discount online -- according to people here on the forum. I suppose it may be different in Canada.

.

I can see why you want it extended for a 5 year lease. I don't think 5 year is available where I live. The longest I've kept a leased car is 2½ years and shortest is 15 months, I like new cars. ... ?

There are several Canadian forum members.

You might consider starting a thread for 'extended warranties in Canada' or similar.

For all I know, there may be a Canadian version of the Bronco Sport Forum.

This is it! Though there are some specific/local FB groups.

What I found worked for me with warranty was requesting quotes from different dealers. Yes any of them can sell you the warranty & should be able to quote it. I used that quote then at my selling dealer to get them to price match. I don’t recall how much less it was, but it did save me some. Next time I’ll save 100% off the extended warranty though by not bothering at all. Despite best intentions I seem to not keep a car long enough to get into using it.

Smart move to ditch the warranty!

I wonder how many owners are in that category -- buying new cars frequently?

Or, like my wife and I, not driving very much. Any warranty will 'time out' long before we reach the mileage limit.

I used to mile them out long before time. This one I’v driven only as much in 2 years as I’d normally drive in 1.

As for the buying new cars frequently, it has to be many owners. As all I read about on car forums is people with new cars looking for new cars. Browse used car ads. Every 1-3 year old used car was somebody’s that for whatever reason went & did something different. I get it, life can change & change your needs, but needs alone doesn’t account for the amount of 2020s used cars in the market.

I’m not in the minority I find. Used to keep em for a decade & 200K, I haven’t had a car I’d take that far recently.
