I am surprised by how often I use the rear camera washer. Also I am surprised by how often I use the NAV even though I obviously have NAV on my phone. My FIL was smitten with the map feature and following along as we drove when he visited and the roads were unfamiliar to him. Recently rented a Chevy Malibu. Driving through the tunnels in Boston, the stupid Chevy NAV system kept referencing streets ABOVE the tunnel. I can only imagine someone unfamiliar with the tunnels freaking out about how to 'turn left!'

The 1.5 has surprising pep, although I do wish I could have afforded one of the 3 loaded Badlands I drove (used, under 4k miles all of them!)

I am surprised how accustomed I have become to the rotary shifter.

I do enjoy the ability to open the sunroof shade and let in more light. I would not have paid extra for a sunroof, but like that I have one!

I researched extensively before the pulling the trigger on my used ,'21 Big Bend. Three things still surprised me. A couple I really like!

1. FordPass Connect. That didn't come up in reviews. I love being able to schedule engine starts in the winter to warm up the vehicle or start it with the app whenever I want. My car is usually not parked close enough to me for the usual remote starting to work. The other features of the app are cool too.

2. The fog lights become cornering lamps at night. Doesn't make a huge difference for me, but I can see where this would be great for someone living on a remote dark country road.

3. The turning radius is super tight. Makes manuevering and parking a breeze in tight spaces. My favorite feature is how nimble the Bronco Sport feels as a result.

I second the tight turning radius. I was surprised by the ride as it feels more like a truck than an SUV. I have a Badlands 2023. I have taken it off-road at a sand dune-type State Park. It did great in the sand. I used rock crawl most of the time. I did get off the sand and on some small rock ledges. I enjoyed it but my wife was nervous as we had under 500 miles on it.

The adjustable flow on the vents via the knob. Only had up/down and left/right before.

was surprised that ford includes app for remote start etc with no extra charge while other brands have annual costs
This right here. I love being able to remote start in winter. My wife just got a new chevy trailblazer and they only offer remote start for the first 3 years, then you have to pay each month after that. Thought it would've been free like Ford's lol.

You pay all this money for these cache brands and don't get a lot of the basic amenities that many mainstream automakers either standardize or option out at a much affordable rate.
that’s something I’m discovering reading other car forums. Just how much you get for tech standard on the Ford which others charge extra for, or as someone pointed out with the app you need a subscription. Or other cars lack these features entirely.

I love the off road capability of the Sport. I believe it is better than my old Jeep Liberty. I've added a lift and skid plates, and will add taller tires once these wear out.

I really like the gas mileage. I typically get over 26 mpg in town. I drove 100 miles yesterday where highest speed was 70, but most was under 50. I got 32 mpg for the trip, according to my dash computer. Off road mileage isn't great, so a bigger gas tank would have been very nice.

I pulled a 13' aluminum boat loaded with gear to Lake Powell last week. I got 23 miles per gallon over 1000 miles. Plenty of power, but it kills the mileage.

Yes! The turning radius is another amazing thing. It rivals or bests my good ol' 2005 Honda Civic. So much better than the Subaru Forester.

This may be a lame one, but I had a flat the other day on the highway. Cars whizzing by pretty close - I was wondering what I was in for. I popped open the rear hatch - getting the spare tire and jack out was easy - and keep in mind many new cars are coming without spare tires. My main shout out is that the jack is actually pretty nice - it is a solid scissor jack with a really well designed (beefy) handle that has several joints in it - allowing a much faster raising or lowering of the jack. This handle doubles as the lug nut wrench and has a decent length to it. This made changing the flat pretty much a non-event - I was back on the highway in less than 5 minutes. My spare was the small donut one - not much bigger than a motorcycle wheel, but it was inflated and got me to the tire shop.

Did your jack and handle look like this? There’s been a lot of posts about the OEM jack and handle… I haven’t seen beefy used before.

That every window in my Badlands is one touch up and down. Even the back ones.
I wish I had the "one touch up and down" windows in my BS 2023 Heritage; was surprised when I found out it didn't come with it. So used to my husband's Subaru Outback and ease of window use.
