High parasitic draws has been my suspicion, well over 50mA on average is what I have been guessing but haven’t taken the time to measure it.

I wonder if performing a BMS Reset every other night would help the BMS keep itself updated?
Many suspect that with the F150 issues it is related to OTA software updates that are very common there. I think performing a BMS reset after an OTA is helpful. However, that wouldn't be the cause of the problems with the Sport. Maybe it is just bad OEM batteries, just seems like multiple Ford lines are having the same problems and when get down to it, the drain on the batteries appears to be happening at night when not in use. That sounds like a BMS issue to me. A reset can't hurt. I reset my F150 - didn't help.

Maybe a more powerful alternator and a stronger battery would work.

For various reasons I disabled automatic software updates. I know from talking to a Ford Tech, the Bronco Sport can download software to other modules besides the APIM (Sync software) and I don’t know if disabling automatic software updates is a setting only applicable to Sync software or applies to any software update. I also don’t know if my Bronco Sport ever downloaded software other than Sync because I haven’t found a way to see log files or to know what downloads did occur.

Given that, I’ve been wanting to measure the average parasitic current draw over a period of time (in the video, the Tech calls it parasitic drain).

I suspect average current draw for Bronco Sports varies quite a bit for different vehicles but I think might be well over 50mA for some Bronco Sports. This may explain why Bronco Sports with an AGM Battery or the EFB fail to maintain a charge over a period of time when the vehicle is not driven sufficiently.

And given the discussion above that Fords BMS may not be all that robust, this adds to the knowledge that BMS might well be the root cause.

I don’t have the equipment to measure and record draw over a period of time. Perhaps there are F150 owners or Bronco Sport owners that do have the equipment and are interested in doing a science project as outlined in this video.

@wessermgm you could post this thread with the link on your F150 forum if interested.

Theoretically yes but unfortunately i was at a gas station at 10 pm and couldn’t wait as i had to get home / drive to work the next morning.
I would explain that to Ford maybe they will reimburse you if the Motorcraft Battery is around the same price as what you paid for your replacement battery!!

When I purchased the car it came with an envelope that listed warranty contact information. I reached out to Total Warranty Services and they state that "per the contract", batteries are not covered.

I'm not sure who to reach out to from here since I know for a fact that Ford Motor Companies are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles.

Any suggestions??

@stitchsport Ford’s 36 month 36k mile warranty provided for new Ford vehicles is bumper to bumper including your original factory battery. Contact Ford Customer Services at +1 (866) 436-7332.

I believe Total Warranty Services is an add on provided by the dealership where you bought your car… is that correct?
