I have never blown any speakers before but today I just turned on the radio like every day and instantly a horrific exceptionally loud sound blasted out of the rear speakers then my system turned itself off. excruciating pain in my right ear and a very upset dog! Ever since this happened the surround sound no longer works (rear speakers don’t work) so I am assuming the speakers blew but I don’t understand how that can that even happen with hardly any volume ? I am surprised my ear drum didn’t burst from the sound the speaker made but it still hurts a lot!. I have to call the dealer on Monday…and now I’m scared it will happen again when fixed.
Has this happened to anyone else or have you heard of something like this happening?

Dec 5, 2023: returned to vehicle, and same thing happened to me. Horrible LOUD-terrifying actually-sound that could not be turned off in any way, not by turning car off, or radio knob off, nothing worked. The excruciating noise reverberated through the vehicle for over 2 minutes. Initially I thought a tree or tree limb had fallen on the roof of the vehicle. I was able to record the sound and made an appt with the dealership as soon as I got home. What was the resolution to your situations? The dealership told me it is probably a ”stuck module” in the sound system. My vehicle has a B&O sound system & I bought the vehicle new, now has just over 5000 miles. Not a problem prior to this sudden incident. If anyone has any feedback about your resolutions to this problem, please reply. Thanks

Out of curiosity, did you press the power button in the volume knob?

Same exact thing just happened to me tonight. 23 Badlands with B&O sound. Pushed in the knob to turn on audio and it sounded like I hit someone with the car (I was parked). Then a horrendous loud electronic sound like the emergency warning system signal they play on TV in the middle of the night. Nothing could shut it off. I even shut off the car and got out and armed the alarm. I don't think any of the speakers were blown but this can't be good for the long term life of the audio system.

If anyone has the TSB number mentioned above for this problem I'd appreciate.
Are you referring to this post: “ You may want to discuss with them to reload the ACM software/firmware which will also accomplish the ACM reset. That’s what a known TSB called for “

That was for a different issue

This happened to me today (1/22/24) in my 23 Outer Banks! My 80 year old mother hit the floor like she’d been shot! Seriously thought a bomb was going off! What is Ford doing for you?

Your ‘23 should have the latest Sync software installed

SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT (or latest available)

if needed install the latest Sync (because Sync version 22251 has the issue you experienced)

if you have the latest Sync then contact your dealership service department

I have a Bronco Sport OuterBanks 2023 and this happened to me on 5/5/2024. It was terrifying. I pressed the Start Button and this loud noise sounded like a siren. It was deafening. My little dog was so scared. My screen listed audio at zero (0). After this noise stopped there was a very loud bang (like an explosion). For a minute, I thought one of my tires blew. A couple of days later I went to the dealership where I purchased my Bronco (Earnhardt) and they looked for this issue in ther computer and had no record of this problem. I explained there were several reports of this on different Ford Models on the internet and was confused why they didn't have any information on the cause. They told me they would have to keep my Bronco for 2 to 3 days to investigate. I didn't leave it because I felt as though they had no idea and my Bronco would just sit there for several days without resolution. Why doesn't Ford have a fix for this issue?

6/24/2023 Today when my husband started our Ford Bronco Badlands the same thing happened except after the horrific exceptionally loud sound blasted out of all the speakers (we think) it went into the crackling noise so high-pitched. It did sound like the speakers were blowing and we couldn’t get it to stop even if we shut off the car it wouldn’t stop. I quickly disconnected my phone. My husband tried stopping and starting the car it was probably a good 30 seconds. My eardrum is killing me. Sadly we had a 2 1/2 year old in the backseat of the car and I couldn’t get him out of the car seat quick enough, our radio and our surroundsound and speaker are working. But it’s been two hours since it happened and my ear still hurts. We have no idea what it was or why it happened.
I would assume it has something to do with the noise cancelling system that's integrated into the radios. The use a "road mic" to create white noise to dampen road noise. They do this to save money on sound dampening materials. if no audio upgrades have been done and you are under warranty I would take it to the dealership as soon as possible

Here’s my Bronco Sport audio story… 2023 Outer Banks with the B&O sound system. Latest SNYC software ver 3.4 installed.

On 6-21-22, I returned to my car in a Sam’s parking lot. The temp inside the locked car had to be 100 degrees F. A few seconds after starting the engine… I heard the loudest sound I’ve ever experienced in a vehicle. I instantly thought someone had plowed into my car. I jumped out of the vehicle expecting to see damage… but no one was anywhere near my Bronco. I even checked the roof, thinking something may have fallen on the car.

The sound system was dead for my entire trip home. The LCD screen was normal, showing the SiriusXM channel and updating the song info, but no matter what I pressed or turned, the speakers remained silent.

After my Bronco was parked at home for about an hour, I got back into the vehicle and the sound system was working. It sounded ok, but the front-to-back level adjustment yielded low rear speaker volume. The sub-woofer appeared to be working.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my Bronco Sport audio experience which appears to be very similar to other owners on this forum. Hopefully Ford is taking this unusual, and apparently non-repeatable problem seriously.

Did you take it to the dealership to report this as well as have them look at the low rear speaker volume?

also you said “6-21-22” but you have a ‘23 model. Is that correct?

It was yesterday, 6-21-24 (not 22) It will go to Shultz Ford for PA State Inspection on Tuesday, 6-25-24. I'll of course mention the problem at that time...

Also mention to the dealership there are descriptions of the loud pop issue on F-150 forums and of course this Bronco Sport forum

I haven’t looked lately on the F-150 forum to see if there are known solutions

Any noise that makes your ears hurt has caused permanent damage to you hearing. Take it from someone who now wears hearing aids.

I think a class action lawsuit would be appropriate.
