Question: is the Faraday pouch just for storing the fob while in your house? In what other circumstances would you use it? Do you stick it in there when you reach a driving destination too?

does anyone use clubs?
You may also use the pouch to leave the fob in your vehicle if you don't want to carry it, or if you're going somewhere you can't carry it. For example, say you're SCUBA diving off the beach, you probably don't want to take the key fob with you. The fob won't activate the vehicle if it's inside a faraday pouch.

Then you use your app or door code to open the door?
That’s correct (and of course not everyone will have the drivers side door keypad especially going forward bc unfortunately Ford discontinued that feature)

I wonder why.
I would guess more cost cutting. Ford dropped the rear window defroster on the bottom end model for '24, the Big Bend.
That's a safety item, not a convenience item. That's disturbing decision making by the bean counters and management who approved the deletion.

I heard that rear window defroster deletion in the Long MacArthur dealer's review of the 2024 Bronco Sport Big Bend, while discussing external features, Tim Bartz went back to discussing 2 safety features: child locks and the rear wiper and lack of rear defroster.
It's at the 14:10 mark in this video:

I'm old enough to remember when cars had no rear defrosters at all: no electrical heating wires in the windows, and no defroster fan on the rear window. My Dad had cut a hole in the rear package shelf of his car and installed a squirrel cage fan, blowing air from the passenger compartment onto the rear window.

I would guess a market analysis showed it's not used often by the majority of owners, and because you can open the door using the app.
I’m in the majority then bc I leave my phone and the keyfob in the car; I’ll never buy a new Ford again (unless I get an Apple Watch)

I live in Miami.
Car theft is rampant.
I lock my doors.
I have never had my car stolen in my life.
I live in Baltimore. Car theft is rampant. My mom had her car stolen. Someone attempted to steal my daughter's (she lives across the street) on Sunday but stole my friend's (she lives five doors from my daughter) instead after doing $700+ in damage. I figure it's only a matter of time, and I'd like to make that as hard as possible.

You leave your phone in the car? In Arizona? In the summer?

Putting a steering wheel lock in your car will pretty much guarantee a thief will NEVER drive away with your vehicle. I'd be willing to bet a hefty sum of money on that proposition. Thieves have MUCH BETTER targets than a Bronco Sport with a club on it.

If you're worried about the random smash and grab...well....those are very difficult to protect against because they are...get this..."random".

FWIW, my deterrents are CLEARY visible cameras that are hovering over my driveway, that immediately turn on all sorts of flood lights when motion is detected at night. So I'm not trying to poo-poo your endeavour. Anti theft is well worth it. I'm just trying to say that if you make sure you lock your doors, and be careful where you park, you're 90% of the way there. Add a club? Your car will be yours for life.

I park on my parking pad. Dead end alley. Just bought the Ring motion detector light/camera. I won’t leave it unlocked. When I have, someone always rifles through it. I live in a great neighborhood, but it doesn’t matter.
