Anyone here remove the flaps that hang off the front bumper in front of the tires? Never seen that on any other vehicle. Not sure what the idea behind their design is. I'm thinking it would be an improvement in the "Looks" dept.

Mine broke. Not sure how. Sad dangling pieces I must attend to.

They are called deflectors. They are installed in front of both the front and rear wheels. The purpose is to deflect air around the wheels at highway speeds to improve mpg.

Almost all vehicles today have deflectors installed from the factory. You are not looking close enough.

I removed mine about a month after buying the BC, as I read and viewed posts here where the dealer removed a screw that held one side of them to get the front pan off to do an oil change, did not reinstall the screw, and the front tire rubbed the flap to a pulp.

They are now on a peg hanging above my bench.

Looks like mine will be coming off too. I have a box labeled "Bronco Spare Parts and Takeoffs". They will be residing there shortly. ?

They are air or wind deflectors. I had the same on my previous Escape.

That was easy. They're off. Those could have been one part that Ford have left off and I wouldn't of minded or replaced.

I check the screws on these and my mud flaps when I wash the car based on the experiences shared by forum members. I do enough highway driving that I’ll keep anything on the car that may help the mpg. However, If I keep the car as long as I am hoping I suspect in the long run they will catch on a high curb and get damaged, and I will be too cheap/lazy to buy replacements. But maybe the Colonel will give me a good deal out of that dusty box in his garage!

It didn’t negatively affect my mileage enough to notice. Lol.

Yes, I actually did this 2 days ago, I hated the look of them with my new tires, didn't fit in, they are supposed to help with aerodynamics, not that they do much at all, taking them off I noticed absolutely no change in mpg but I feel the car looks significantly better, I agree, this is a part I would not have minded if it was left out by ford

Same here. I didn't like how it looked with my new tires. Honestly I do very little highway driving where I think the aero advantage of the flaps comes more into play.
