Hello everyone, I recently bought our family's Outer Banks and I really love it! However, my wife and I have previously owned European brand cars, so I have a few questions to ask everyone. My wife isn't very satisfied with the stability and shock absorption of this car.

  1. I understand that this car leans towards a balance between off-road and comfort. In the past few weeks, when driving on the highway, the motion of the shock absorbers made my wife uncomfortable. I can describe it as having a strong road feel. I'm wondering if this is a normal phenomenon? Or is it typical for this car's suspension system to give such a road feel? Would the Intelligent AWD setting help?
  2. Because I live in Arizona, I often drive on the highway. There's a slight plastic collision sound near the area of my central console screen. I feel like it might be due to assembly tolerances. Has anyone else encountered this issue? It seems like it doesn't happen in the evening. Could it be due to expansion and contraction from temperature changes?
  3. Initially, I didn't install cargo management. I'm wondering if anyone has any alternative solutions besides purchasing the expensive accessory that costs nearly 2000 yuan? Or if you didn't install the shelf, how did you organize your rear cargo area?
I have a lot of questions and I'm seeking advice from all of you because I've been having some debates with my wife recently, but I really love this car!

2. Regarding “slight plastic collision sound near the area of my central console screen”, if is the same issue of noise that others reported, their solution was to insert small amount of insulation about the thickness of a credit card - see pic for the arrows pointing to where to insert. Check first if you are getting noise there and if so that solution may work work you. If I misunderstood your #2 item please ignore the solution.

Your Bronco Sport is built on Ford's C2 platform, which was developed primarily in Europe to underpin a variety of vehicles around the world. As noted (in the linked article) by Joe Bakaj, head of engineering for Ford in Europe, the platform allows Ford to offer "more derivatives to suit different personalities." That is certainly the case with the Bronco Sport. Ford equipped your car with what it calls HOSS, or high-performance off-road stability suspension, which is markedly different from other vehicles developed on the C2 platform. You can read about the HOSS suspension at this link.

For a quick sanity check, check your tire pressure. A number of people here found their tires were overinflated when delivered, having 45 psi instead of the recommended 33 psi. That would definitely affect ride quality.
I have the BS Badlands version, and to me it does have a truckish ride and feel, it's not bothersome, just different.

I agree with the suggestion to check your tire pressures. Mine also delivered with 44/45 psi in the tires. Rolled back to 33psi and, while not a “soft” ride. It was better than as delivered

Before you buy, test drive the vehicle in question. Finding issues after a purchase only places the blame on the buyer.
