I highly recommend updating with a USB, the wifi can take a very long time and if the connection isn't the best signal you will be there forever ....USB is easy

I had similar issues and had to have mine reset at dealers. In my case they said it was likely because I have an iPhone and use CarPlay. Also it’s good to have a high quality cable connecting your phone
I'm pretty sure if I do this I would HAVE to use USB because I do not think our 22 BL came with the wifi modem. I seem to remember a $20 credit on the window sticker for deleting the modem. I presume this was due to the chip shortage. Bet if I took it to the dealer now and asked to have one installed it would cost more than that $20!!

That delete may be for the in vehicle Wi-fi hotspot. They are different. The Wi-fi hotspot includes a cellular radio and requires a number and service plan with AT&T.
Thanks for straightening me out. I thought that delete meant there was no wifi at all in our vehicle. I will go back and read the manual!
The length of this thread might indicate that “easy” is a relative concept and sometimes difficult to predict. For me, “easy” will probably be turning off my radio when I start the car for a little while longer and sitting in my car some afternoon or evening scrolling thru forum threads while Wi-Fi does it’s magic.
USB easier and faster, wifi can be very time consuming and iffy for some who don't get the best wifi from their home wifi or whatnot...but I get your idea of chilling in the car for a bit while it downloads. Sometimes the peace is worth the time ...
I love that the forum provides great directions and advice to those in need and the adventurous. The less I am involved with the process the less likely I am to screw it up! ? If my Wi-Fi fails me I will be back though.
Both of our BS have never detected an update over WiFi. I’ve tried manually searching for the updates numerous times and it will always tell me the software is up to date. After a couple weeks I updated manually and just use the USB now each time.

You don’t need to sit in the car to wait for the update to download over WiFi. If you configure your system to automatically install updates and provide a WiFi connection, it will download the update even if the car is off. Once the entire update is downloaded it will install the next time you start the car. Just make sure you don’t turn the car off while it’s installing the update.
