Does anyone have experience with these seasucker mounts? They have a few options like the ability to transport water or fuel, or even transport recovery boards. All on the side rear windows. Seems too good to be true to alleviate some of that "roof weight" concern. Are these things rock solid to stick on? The last thing I'd want is to be cruising down the highway, going 70, and all of a sudden I drop a 3 gallon water jug onto the highway for the people behind me.

I'm a cyclist and they make bike racks too. I've been too terrified to try it lol. If you do let us know!

They are fantastic, I have only used for bike mounts. No issues even traveling hundreds of miles at highway speeds

I first read (cringed) about SeaSucker products more than a decade ago and saw ads on Tour De France for products to hold bikes.

i have no direct experience (cringe factor is still there) but there’s a number of correct usage guidelines and real world reports that can be searched for including this FAQ:

Haha. I see everyone has the same visceral reaction to literally 'suction cups' holding on valuable pieces of equipment as you jet down the highway going 75. ?

All joking aside, the FAQ page is pretty good. Lets you know what to expect. I would think this company wouldn't be in business if their suction cups were giving way left and right.

It's a little pricey, but might make for a great way to haul water for a 4 or 5 day camping trip, especially if you just keep them empty while on the highway and fill them up right before you go off road.

When I was an installer for the telephone companies a long, long, long time ago, we used these as floor tile removers. We abused the heck out of them when we applied them to tool boxes loaded with weight exceeding 500 pounds. They never broke loose.

I've seen them used in datacenters for the same reasone (tile movement/placement). Im starting to think as long as you stay within the giudelines of the product, use the protocols described in the FAQ's, and understand that this is a TEMPORARY placement, and needs to be removed when no longer in use, then this is probably a legit solution. I might give the rotopax water jug a try somewhere down the line.

Haven’t used the sea sucker racks. I have moved a lot of 1/2ā€ plate glass and rigged cameras and lights to cars with similar suction cups.

Everything has to be pretty clean, and redundancy is key. All the Seasucker products I’ve seen use multiple cups.

I’m sure they are strong enough but would be concerned the weight and wind drag would cause the whole window to come unglued from its mount.

And that window isn't cheap either! I had to have my driver's side replaced after something hit and shattered it. Close to $950! You can't reuse the black trim in front of it. Cheers!

JMO, but I would be scared AF to use that on the Sport windows. I have seen people post that the rear glass exploded just from opening or closing it. I had mine replaced right after vehicle delivery (shipping damage) and the Ford techs had to spend a few hours installing the new one to get all the mount and hinge specs right. Anything a bit out of whack and boom goes the glass.
