I know the "suspension" is different between the 2.0L models and the 1.5 models. But what about those diffrences actually PREVENTS the kits from being installed? Anything? Or is it simply that the Badlands is assumed to be driven off-road, and the kits that say that they aren't for them, are not rated to be taken off road?

Essentially, is this a physical shortcoming, or simply a recommendation? Not that I want to install anything not off-road rated on my BAdlands, but just trying to understand the differences more than anything.

I suspect is has to do with driveline and sway bar geometries. The Badlands is already "lifted" from the factory, which limits how much further you can lift it using aftermarket parts.
Do you know the difference in components that make the "Badlands" lifted? Longer spring?

I know that the HRG spacer lift has different (thinner) spacers for the front (at least) between the Badlands version and the version for other BS's.

“The HOSS systems up the off-road ante further on Bronco and Bronco Sport models such as Badlands™ series, or the Sasquatch™off-road package available on the two- and four-door models. The systems feature heavier-duty off-road-tuned dampers, as well as end stop control valve technology to increase impact absorption and further improve high-speed pitch control.”

Wow, @Mark S. link is a doozy.

"Badlands and First Edition models expand Bronco Sport performance further, with the addition of hydraulic rebound stops that rapidly increase control at the end stop to reduce the jarring impact of rugged terrain. Upgraded 46-millimeter diameter rear monotube shocks are specially tuned for Badlands and First Edition models and further help improve off-road control and comfort.
More compliant front and rear anti-roll bars and springs were selected for the high-capability Badlands and First Edition models to increase off-road articulation"

Yeah....I don't think I'm touching anything on the suspension. Not a thing. I WAS considering the steeda rear sway bar, and possibly a lift down the road, but nope. Not a thing.
I actually love the way the vehicle feels on the road, and I'm not about to mess with that to get an inch or so higher, or to go chasing "suspension ghosts".

Did not know this kind of detail about the BAdlands suspension.

I'm with you on this. I am only going to go with the 245/65/17 tires.

Unfortunately the Bronco sport does not have a lot of aftermarket off road parts available at the moment. I have a 23 badlands and decided to go with the Eibach Pro lift kit 21 -3 along with pro alignment front camber bolts. 245/65R17 Toyo open Country A/T 31 inch tire. The larger fender flares. SparcoA/T Terra LT Grey wheels.

The 245/65/17 tires are not 31". If they are anything like my 245/70/16 Toyo AT3 tires, then they are probably closer to 29". The spec's say that either of these tires should be 29.5".

The color combo of wheel/body looks good!

Do you think width of rim affects tire diameter, all other things equal (mainly the tire)? I have to imagine a wider rim would stretch and "concave" the tire a bit more, so maybe shortening the diameter by millimeters? Maybe not even noticeable enough to mention? I have yet to find a tire diameter calculator that takes rim width into account

Yes, rim width would affect tire diameter slightly but only at an extreme and even then it would be small. It would only be at the large end of the spectrum and only really when it was visibly stretched. It's never going to make 1.5" difference in the diameter.
