The injectors may crack. Ford states that fact. Yes, parts fail but how many times has a company said a part may crack? I don't even know what happens if there's a crack on the road as far as a breakdown. You joined this forum two weeks ago; look at my join date. You think I haven't read all the threads on this issue? If you still think this recall is about cracked injectors it's pretty clear who hasn't done the reading.
For the record, there is no data available to the public that shows the fuel injectors used in Ford's 1.5L engine are substandard. There is not even ANECDOTAL evidence to suggest the injectors are any lower quality than those used by other manufacturers. If there were, the NHTSA would have required Ford to replace them. Parts fail, even new parts. These are mechanical devices made by human beings--they cannot be perfect.
This issue is still under study, and it may end up that Ford decides to replace injectors, but that hasn't happened yet. Given this recall has been ongoing for almost a year, I'm fairly certain both Ford and NHTSA have determined there is nothing wrong with the injectors.
