The 2021 Bronco Sport's factory wheels specs are:

17x7" or 18x7"
7" width
+37.5 mm offset

Note: these are the same specs as the Maverick pickup's wheels
How much do they weigh?

Please put the hub-centric diameter in the first post.

Please also add the lug dimension 5X108 = 5X4.25

I'm going to show my ignorance here but how does 7" width relate to the typical numbers given to tires when shopping, like LT245/65 R17. I believe 245 is not stock, but what is?

As an old professor of mine used to say: There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people.

7" refers to the width of the wheel between the wheel rims. 245 is the width of the tire tread. Wider wheels can accommodate wider tires. When you look at the specs for most tires they will list required wheel width.

OEM tires for all trims are 225 width. The Badlands has an option for a 235 width tire.

18" is 30-31lbs ea
17" options all float between 25-26lb ea
Did you weigh these yourself or did you find a data sheet somewhere? Trying to find out if there is anyway I can keep the same amount of unsprung mass if I decide to change wheels and tires. Thank you.

If the Bronco Sport’s factory wheels are 37.5 offset (which seems weird, why not 37 or 38?) then an 8in. or 8.8in. wheel with 30-35 offset should fit comfortably.

I went through this with my 2004 CrownVic when fitting aftermarket wheels.

The BS’s OEM wheel is 17x7 or 18x7 with 37.5 offset. If you upsize to an 8in. wheel your new wheel will protrude or poke 1/2 in. further outward as well as 1/2 in. closer to the suspension components assuming you maintain the same 37.5 offset.

But if you increase the offset to 35 your wheel will poke about 5/8 in. outward and 3/8 in. inward than your stock wheel. Put another way 3mm. is roughly 1/8 in. and 6-7mm. is about 1/4 in.

If you go with a 30 offset your wheel will poke outward about 3/4 in. and only 1/4 in. inward.

If you go with a lower offset, like 40 or 42, than the wheel will poke further inward than it does outward. This is where you have to make sure you have enough clearance for that between your wheel and the suspension components.

Now if you opt for an 8.5in. wheel then you have to add an extra 1/4 in. to your measurements because an 8.5 wheel is 1-1/2 in. wider than a 7in. wheel. Thats not a problem if your new offset is 30-35, but it might be if your offset is going the other way inward.

Thank you for this explanation, it's the first one that actually makes sense to me.

It also probably answers my current problem. Swapped to 235/65R17 and new 17x7.5 wheels with an offset of 40..

Now I'm experiencing rubbing on my front driver's side whenever turning fully ti the right..

It apparently rubbed the felt inner fender liner to the point it's not only ripped the liner exposing the bcm and everything else back there but also has fully pulled it enough to rip out most of the clips that were holding it in place.

Do you think adding an inch or two spacers would solve the issue, at least I can afford to replace the wheels?

Discount tire's website says that they fit my vehicle but it would seem they were clearly wrong about that I guess

You're welcome. I studied this enough so I would know what to expect when upgrading wheels and tires on my CrownVic and now my Bronco Sport.

If you went to a 17x7.5 from stock 17x7 and to a 40 offset from 37.5 your new wheel should have poked inward only 3/8 in. I went from a 18x7 with 37.5 offset to 18x8 with 35 offset and my new wheels poke inward less than 1/2 in., so very close to your new wheels and I have no rubbing issues.

Here are some reference charts.

A 40 offset is practically identical to a 39.5 (only half a millimetre difference) so you shouldn't be having any issues, with the wheels anyway. You have 235/65R17 tires while I have 235/55R18 tires so you shouldn't be having any issues there either. Hmm, are you certain your wheel offset is 40?

People do use spacers although I'm not a fan because you're adding an extra unintended component to your suspension setup (of which your wheels are a part).

I had a rear inner fender lining pop out a bit that had to be fastened back into place as it was affecting my rear splashguard on the driver's side. Is it possible the liner on the front wheel was dislodged somehow and was rubbing against your tire? It might not, it shouldn't, be your new wheel and tire setup causing the problem as you haven't varied from factory spec much at all.

This is a site to check the fitment of new wheels and what changes compared to your factory setup. https://www.willtheyfit.com/

This is what my new wheel & tire setup looks like.

Also looks like discount tire could owe you a refund on the wheels (tires are fine) unless their fine print for purchasing wheels absolves discount tire from fitment issues like yours

Yeah I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow morning. Their website says there is no time limit on exchanges either but are done on a case by case basis. I just triple checked and their website says the wheels fit but according to the data sheet someone else commented here, they are definitely outside of the recommended specs (even if just by half a mm).

Hi all, hoping for some guidance as I am buying a Sport Outer Banks.

I'm trading in my 2019 Edge, and as I was searching for winter tire/rim options I realized the Sport and Edge are close. (Not exact)

My winter tires are 235/60R18XL and they are on TR60 wheels 18" x 8" 5/108(5/114.3) 40 72.62

I put the numbers in this checker but I have no reference on where the real suspension would hit.

When your hands have been behind the wheels would it seem like there is lots of room for 16mm extra inset?? (About 5/8")

Various sites suggest the wheels would be fine, but tire size with offset don't necessarily factor into any calculator I have found.

Thanks for any insight!!! (And yep I see the like wheel diameter difference, wondering the tolerance before needing to update with Forscan, lol)

^^ I have 18x8 wheels with 35 offset on my Bronco Sport for the summer. For the winter I have the factory 18x7 with 37.5 offset wheels. So if you have 18x8.5 with 40 offset you should be fine. 40 is only 2.5mm less offset than factory and I had contemplated about putting 18x8.5 wheels for the the summer, but the ones I chose were just a half inch narrower.
