I have a 2023 Maverick Lariat Hybrid ordered and just put in an order for an Outer Banks last week. Gas mileage will be worse, but it'll actually show up.

I know the maverick people post the scheduling info every week, but I haven't been able to find any recent info like that for the Bronco Sport so I'm not really sure what kinda timeline I'm looking at, but dealer says ~3 months.
Quick followup: I ordered my Outer Banks on 4/14 and got the scheduling email yesterday (4/20) with a build date of 6/5

I don't count, as I already own a 2007 Ford F150 that's been paid off for awhile now. I have the current 2023 BS Outer Banks, and enjoy driving them both.

I'll admit though, my initial want was the Maverick, and was considering trading in my older F150 on it.

But then I saw the BS Outer Banks in Area 51....decision made!

We ordered a BS Heritage Edition for our daughter and she loves it. Originally we thought the Maverick would be a better idea, but the order date kept getting pushed back and we were worried we’d never see one. So we ordered the BS. It took about 6 months from order to pickup, but we got it. As for the Mavericks…well..we still ordered them; two of them. One Ecoboost (a Tremor) and one Hybrid. I was very confident that the Ecoboost would get scheduled at some point this year and sure enough it did. Our build date is May 9. We were fortunate enough to be able to test drive a Tremor at a local dealer and my husband loved it. Nothing like the BS, which my husband doesn’t care for. He said he can definitely drive the Tremor everyday.

As for the hybrid, we had no clue if it would get scheduled…but low and behold, it did. That’s scheduled for the week of June 12. My husband has a coworker who has a hybrid and he let him drive it. He was surprised at how smooth and peppy it was. As my husband said, it wasn’t a turd. He really liked the way both drove. Decisions Decisions…

Thanks for the reply. The Mav hybrid we have on order is for a Lariat but unfortunately I just don't see it getting built for MY23. I think they only have around 3ish months of Mav scheduling left so that's a bummer. I think we might see a considerable increase in the price of the Mav Hybrid in for MY24 so that's why we are checking out the bronco sports.
If it's ordered your MY23 price is locked in. The sports seemingly took forever at a peak in the covidiocy parts shuffle but they came through eventually. Just seems to take forever.
Personal choices. A pickup is a pickup and a sport is a SUV. Depends where you are and what she wants to do. Hybrid is crazy different on gas mileage if that's a factor at all. The truck is more versatile if you haul bigger stuff...the sport is challenging completely enclosed
The sport is an enjoyable and secure vehicle, and living in the deep north, handles far better in snow with even weight distribution. A truck, always need something in the bed to give a little more guts in heavy snow so it just depends what you really need and want

I had originally ordered a Maverick XLT. They said itncould be anywhere from 12 ton18 months before I saw it. This was November of 2021. In February, I went to another dealer nearby and found my 22 OB. No regrets choosing the Bronco Sport!

I had the same experience. I ordered a 2022 Maverick XLT 4x equipped with co-pilot 360+, Area51 paint, full size spare and tonneau cover in Sept. 2021. In November, I got a call from my salesman telling me my truck might take a year to be built because of the 360+ chip, and tonneau. I refused to alter the build. I had thought about Bronco Sport's prior to the Maverick but the price difference was rather significant, hence the Maverick order. After the phone call I went back to looking at Broncos and sometime in December I saw that my dealer had a Big Bend on order with the Area51 paint, 360+ and tow pkg (with full sized spare). Yes, it was more expensive but not by too much, so I called my salesman and put my name on it. Funny thing, that same day I got the notification from Ford that my Maverick was in production! My wife and I went to the dealership to test drive a Bronco Sport 3cyl and I was surprised at its sportiness and overall comfort level which sold my wife. Jan 31st 2022 we took possession of our Bronco Sport BB. I gave them the Maverick to sell. We've never been happier with our decision.

I previously owned a Lariat FX4 Mav but had to trade it in when the wife found out she was pregnant with our son as the cabin space and interior utility would be sorely lacking for a newborn and all the stuff that gets toted around with them. Traded it in for a '22 Edge ST (Cause mommy needs to go fast sometimes :D) and it's a perfect size baby hauler.

Recently got this BS Heritage as secondary vehicle and for my 17yr old to drive to school, work and practices. It's just a base model with a nicer look but it fits the reasons I got it. My daugher thinks it looks cool and I won't mind it getting dirty or banged up a bit. I would've liked to have gotten the Heritage Limited but I just didn't want to spend the extra 14k for it.

The mav was a great little truck for doing little truck things in, used it for hauling firewood (1/4 cord fits perfectly) trips to the beach and out into the East Texas woods a few times but nothing crazy. It was comfortable but a little cramped for passenger space on longer rides. It was quiet and decently comfortable for short trips. The bed was useful but just enough for smaller things, hauling 8' stock was interesting to say the least.

The BS is much more comfortable passenger wise, even with the lower trim level, missing the leather, electronics and heated seats of the Mav but it's good enough I think.

Having owned both, they are completely different from each other. If you have the time to wait for a Maverick, I wouldn't recommend getting anything less than the lariat trim fx4 or even the tremor package as the XL and XLT are just missing so much of what makes it a good, useful, little truck.

If you get a Maverick then go with the hybrid. If you get a BS I would get the 4 cylinder if you plan to tow or keep it for 10-20 years. I was going to order the Maverick truck but I already have a 2004 Ford F150, so I didn’t need a mini truck. I believe model year 2024, so later this year both Ford and Toyota will have their new Tacoma and Ranger. Model year 2026 Toyota will have their mini truck the Scout. It looks fantastic.
