looks like you have removed some of foam ring material. I just try to install these speakers in the front door and the foam ring is too thick. I will need to do the same thing to fit the speakers probably.

also, I'm not where i read someone says the B&O speakers are the same as the standard. after I saw some pics of the std sound system speakers, the little magnet is ridiculous....

but, I think the B&O system speakers are different:
Ford Bronco Sport Speaker upgrade with B&O stereo system 1669262784860

so far I have the right front in and the door panel is not fitting so I need to take it off to remove the foam ring. but I can tell these are a little brighter than the B&O stock. It may need some break-in period to sound better.
I noticed the PowerBass were too bright at first as well. They did mellow after a few hours though and now sound great.

The B&O hardware is the same anemic crap.

Yeah have to remove the ring. I made my own. Quick and easy. They warm up with some hours on them. Also turn the mids and treble way down.

Report after some hours of driving/listening....there is no doubt the sound is better now. better clarity and better imaging. Consider I only changed the two front doors speakers, this was a very high valued bang for the buck upgrade. I will now get that component speakers for the rear and also add some sound deadening mat in the door while I'm at it.

It's too bad there is seems to be no good easy way to upgrade for the sub. I have not try to remove the rear panel to look myself. Not sure anybody here has any video or photos.

anyway, thanks to all have who shared their experience on these PB speakers. they are solid!

I’ve been a strong proponent for this system that it is severely lacking. The issues I’ve had was at lower levels you’d get buzzing with any bass in volumes 6-14 and then anything above it would distort. If you opened the windows any vocals would literally go out the window. Making the system sound out of phase and inaudible. It drove me nuts, so I started ordering different speakers and installing them.

I’ve pulled the door panels a ton of times. I’ve done plenty of swaps front and rear trying to find something plug and playish with the oem amp. I’ve run infinity, Rockford fosgates, hertz, focal, jbl, morel, and powerbass. What I’ve come up with is most aftermarket speakers don’t work that well. They ranged from 120-240$ a set.

These are what I went with. They can handle the bass, aren’t muddy and not overly bright. They give a nice soundstage. Clean sound across the range. Can listen to songs at same volume across the board and not have to adjust per song like with oem setup. I also added the thin dynamat in the doors to help with the buzzing. The buzz is gone. Went with powerbass speakers front and rear. Terrible name lol but very nicely built speakers. Packaging and customer service is top notch. I did the components in the rear doors and 2 ways up front.

What’s extra nice with these is you don’t have to redo wiring or cut into mounting brackets for wiring etc. They mount right up with factory hardware and plugs. I ended up ordering these just to try after having poor luck with most name brand 6.5/6 3/4” speakers. And was gonna gut it all since the oem B&O sounded so bad. So now there is an option for those that are wondering and don’t want to gut it all. The pic with the clip is metal and plastic and rattles, and there’s multiple per door. Think this may be an issue for some also. I wrapped mine so they wouldn’t.

How did you remove the rear door tweeter and replace with the Powebass component tweeter?

The stock tweeter seems to stuck in there. I mean stuck in the bracket with 4 clips. Getting the bracket off the door panel wasn’t hard. Having 4 clips…I’m kind of out of fingers

Sorry for the stupid question but which model did you use for the fronts and which for the backs?
I think RiotFunk uses two way in the front door and component in the rear door.

This is what I'm trying to do. I think many people left the factory tweeter in the dash functioning while changing the speaker in the door to a two way speaker setup.

when the rear panel comes off, it's easy (so I thought) to replace both woofer and the tweeter. The tweeter is mounted on the door panel and doesn't seems to come off easily.

so far I've look thru the forums and youtube I have not seen some one shows how to remove that rear door panel tweeter. the original post has a picture of the tweeter removed off the door panel but not off the bracket

Yeah that’s what I did. The rears don’t put out that much sound. And sounds way better.

I put the 2-ways in both front/rear and did not disable the stock tweeters. The sound is much better but it needs a little time to break in. The first few hours had me wondering what the hell I just spent all that time/money for. Once it was broken in, the sound is really good. The bass is not earth shattering and could probably use an upgrade but it isn’t terrible. I also covered the entire plastic door panel with ”dyna Matt” type stuff that I think also makes a huge difference.

Did you have to purchase any additional harness/wiring to make it work or was it plug-n-play? Looking to get them thru Crutchfield (have acct already so why not use points). Also where did you get the DynaMat from, Amazon?
thanks for the reply. Are you in Denver area?

They were plug-n-play. The connectors are a tight fit but they went together with a little force. The fit right into the stock place. The foam around the edge of the speaker is denser than stock but that didn’t change much other than a little more force to reinstall panel.

I've been eyeballing this thread (mainly to get rid of the buzzing in the door) and I've come across a pretty good video that takes apart the door panel. Might help those of you who visual step by steps.

While I'm in there I may upgrade the speakers as well. I don't see how it could hurt, even though the stock speakers don't bother me that much. I've had plenty of upgraded systems in the past and I listen to music religiously, for me its mainly all that shit buzzing.

Thanks for the thread and the research!
