Did you have any stickers on your Bronco, like Christian or gun or political in any way stickers? Those are a sure way to get keyed.

I haven’t. Is there a relatable scene?
Someone harms something very valuable to him. He then seeks revenge.

I feel bad for you. I would be very angry if someone did that to my car.

I guess I would file an insurance claim and take care of it that way.

Yup. I hate people. Dogs wouldn't do that.
Oh, sure they would, but just not in spite like a human!
We had a bear scratch the crap out of our car once trying to get in even though there was nothing in it as far as food. Right at the door handle. He/she knew exactly what they were doing but still, not in spite, but in hunger or curiosity.

No stickers, except the license plate frame that indicates what dealer I bought it from. Maybe they had a bad experience with them. Lol

This happened on Saturday. Most likely happened at my son’s baseball game.

It’s not that large of an area, on the passenger side door below the mirror and by the Big Bend badge.

Took it by two body shops today. $1500-$1800 to fix and an insane amount of plastic trim pieces that need to be removed and replaced because they aren’t reusable.

Now for the million dollar question: Do I file an insurance claim or pay out of pocket?
File the claim. IT happened in a parking lot to your car while you were away. The claim will not effect your rates. Never avoid filing a comprehensive claim because it is no reflection on you or your driving ability. Collision claims, when you are in the moving car, are a different story

$500 deductible. A chunk of change saved upfront but I’m unsure what that means to my premium going forward.

I was parked on a city owned lot (Parks & Rec Baseball complex). No cameras in the area I was parked unfortunately.

I did file a police report. They said no other reports have been filed from Saturday in that lot. I don’t think there’s any chance I’m going to find the culprit.
They also may waive your deductible depending on your history.

The comprehensive coverage is a smaller portion of your insurance bill but they have to have some way to determine how much to charge you for that portion. Have you ever been asked if your car is parked in a garage at home by your insurance company? That would be a potential risk factor. They want to know where you live (or at least the ZIP code), most likely to check the crime rate in your area (among other things). If you file a comprehensive claim then your "risk" increases and they will most likely increase the rate. They probably factor in a certain number of comprehensive claims per decade or something, so maybe the first one won't be an issue but I'm sure the second would be.

First thing I did was order a new Bronco license plate frame with the lettering in Area 51 to match the color of my BS. Nothing but trouble with my purchase and did not want to advertise for them.

Interestingly these types of things haven't stayed on my car more than a couple days in the past. I'm surprised it's still on there myself!
