There's some room around the spare that the d ring might fit into.

I bought the Curtis one from https://www.levittownfordparts.com/year/2021-ford-bronco-sport.html. Still break-in' my Bronc in, so someday I'll see how it works. They have the off-road recovery kit which includes a strap which might come in handy as well...
FWIW, Ford and/or our dealer (not sure who covered the cost) gave us the same Curt shackle hitch receiver (Part No: VLL3Z19A282A):

Ford Bronco Sport Rear tow hook 1654051938985

We picked it up today. It is a replacement recovery point because the rear tow eye is deleted with the tow package.

You guys do know that you don’t leave the receiver shackle in the hitch unless you’re wheeling right.

But it looks so off roadery hanging there.

I'm gonna paint ours day-glow orange so it catches everyone's eye, and they'll think we're serious off-roaders.

Actually, it's going to stay in the original packaging and be stored under the rear floor, where the tow eye would be (if our BL had been equipped with one).

If the tow eye had not been deleted by the receiver hitch, the receiver insert shackle would not have been needed, except for serious off-roading.

We do have friends and family out west, so we may take it off-road, but for now it is just a (heavy-duty) replacement for the tow eye.

From page 265 of the 2022 manual:

"You must carry the towing eye in your vehicle at all times."

A shackle hitch receiver is an alternative, to comply with Ford's explicit instructions.

Anyone who has the tow package and wants the Curt shackle hitch receiver might consider requesting one from your dealer. It can't hurt to ask.

Or you walk into it loading up the groceries.
Yes, whacking the shin on something sticking out of your receiver that isn’t a trailer is always enjoyable!

Granddaughter calls them shin dents.
We have a small hitch on our '93 NX2000. We got it so we could use a bike carrier. We left the "L" shaped section of the carrier that fits into the hitch in place and stuck a tennis ball on it. No more shin dents.
