My I Phone 13 connects to my sync wirelessly and I can control the phone from my dash screen or from the phone, like it’s wired.
Now I am really confused.
I’m not trying to be funny, but really confused.
Using Carlinkit or similar allows you to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto without having to plug in the cable. For me it allows the use of Waze which I like. Mainly for keeping track of my little friends that do not like how fast I drive. Also allows the use of some other Apps like Amazon Music etc. Biggest downside in my opinion is you loose all of the information on the banner.

The wireless portion is great for the drive to and from work. On trips I plug in as it tends run the battery on my phone down quicker.

I bought the Carplay CarlinKit wired to wireless adapter and I love it! It flawlessly connects my iPhone and starts up Carplay within a few seconds of starting my car - sometimes even before my seatbelt is locked in. So much more convenient than plugging it in every time. It's a lot smaller than I expected and it was easy to set up. Totally worth the $90 price (after tax and coupon). https://smile.amazon.com/Wireless-Adapter-Updated-CarlinKit-Automatically-One-Button/dp/B09362RPTS
Have you noticed if it draws enough power to disengage the auto start/stop?

I'm a little disappointed in the one I have. Sometimes when a message comes in it hangs the audio on the prompt. I have to unplug it to get it to reset. Otherwise, the fact that it says "carplay" and the resolution is different than wired android auto are a little annoying.

Tested mine with USB-C and it works perfectly!

USB-C to USB-C. I ordered that cable from Carlinkit.

USB-C to USB-C or USB-A on adapter to USB-C dash input?

I tried the latter and it did not work on mine.
I got the 3.0 (updated version…if that means anything) and it works flawlessly for me via USB-A on adapter to USB-C to dash.

Hmmm. I’ll have to try it again. It didn’t work originally.
