The PTC ceramic heater in the 1.5's built for sale in the northern states really gets the frost/ice/snow melted pretty quickly when the HVAC is directed to come out of the windshield vents.

I got my vehicle in March so I was spared the worst of northeast winters and haven't experienced it yet.

All models except OBX in the US lacked the heated windshield wiper (Canada was all trims as I understand it). 2024 models cut the heated wiper from the OBX (effectively all trims) in the US. Can't speak to Canada.

Generally every car I've had I've been able to pick up the wiper blades so they're facing out (like I'm changing them) without their range of motion able to scratch any paint in any way. However, I haven't tested the BS with this with the wipers fully off and at rest position yet. That prevents ice from adhering to the rubber of the wiper blades and the wiper blade assembly at least. It doesn't prevent ice from freezing the arm itself at the base, but it gives you more surface area to get at with an ice scraper (in conjunction with the front defroster running to help).

Sunshades are often double sided and switching to the darker side before expected cold temps/icy or snowy condition can help keep the windshield and interior warm to deter ice buildup.

Assuming that Lethbridge is Alberta, Windshield Wiper De-Icers are standard in all trims of the BS in Canada, at least in the 2023 model year (I believe this was true for 2021 and 2022 MY as well, can't speak for 24). This also assumes the vehicle was originally ordered (retail or custom) for shipment to Canada and not the US. The windshield wiper de-icer is on whenever you hit the rear defroster button to on.

The cowl area in my 21 BL is heated. I’m in Canada.
Mine is too, as I live in Florida, and we do not get the snow and Ice as you do in the frigid frozen tundra of the north.

I just got my vehicle 3 weeks ago and have already had to deal with the snowy weather sadly. My plan is to get a windshield cover and put it over top of the wipers. However, the other day my bf was looking at it while my vehicle was off and you can easily just slide them up out of the void and then pull them off the windshield. I haven't tried it yet but it seemed easy enough.

I also asked this on reddit and people just said they scooped it out with their gloves on.

Just be careful. Make sure you put the wipers back down before starting. When you turn on the ignition the wipers will automatically move themselves to the parked position. If you forget to put them back down on the windshield the wipers arms will touch the hood on the way to park, likely taking some paint with them.

Oh for sure, thank you! :) I will keep that in mind for when I have my pre-scheduled starts on for work!

Wipers have a dummy mode ( I think it's called) where as long as engine is off you can move wipers. I just move them up and scoop out the snow, and clean off ice stuck to edge of wipers before getting in. I also quickly clean to top of windshield before starting it. I usually do this while outside walking my cat.

Awhile back my wife bought me a cover for my windshield called the FROST GUARD for my Ranger. I use it now on my Bronco Sport and it covers the windshield and the wiper well.

Here’s a picture of the ford Maverick, its wipers sit above. Is there a way to do this to my Bronco sport? It’s the only part of the car I hate. Besides that 23,000 issue free miles. Why can’t the wipers just be like the Maverick?

Wipers go below the hood on many vehicles while parked because they're visually out of the way and it reduces drag; that improves aerodynamics, and reduces cabin noise.

Pain in the ass when you have snow that melts and then freezes into ice, but easily addressed with a defroster/glove, and if the defroster runs long enough it'll melt and drain rather than becoming slush.

if you have the right trim level or the dealer ordered it as a option the bottom of the windshield is heated like the back window. so you push the button for your heated rear window defrost and the mirrors and windshield parking area are activated also. works real good for me so far.
