We have a similar size IGLOO cooler we take with us when we go grocery shopping. In fact the day we bought our BS we were on our way to the grocery store with that ice chest in the back of our Tacoma.
After test driving the BS I mentioned wondering the width of the cargo area. I asked the salesman if he had a tape measure, but he did not. So we pulled the BS around behind the Tacoma and did a test fit of the IGLOO in the back. IT fit easily and I was able to open the lid completely.
We both looked at the salesman and said, "SOLD."

I'm guessing you don't have the cargo management system. I wish I didn't. I have a big Igloo cooler I use for elk hunting, and it is so close, but no cigar. I have to put it in lengthwise.
