As another who has a foot in each forum, the monetary piece (including what I think may be the likely difference in financing the Bronco vs Bronco Sport) may push me to the Sport Badlands/Badlands over the full-size Bronco. Thankfully I can wait out that decision (or another alternative) until mid March.
If I was a die-hard enthusiast or a hardcore off-roader, I would, without question, bide my time in my paid off Fusion for as long as it took for my Bronco to arrive. But, I'm not. The Bronco Sport BL+BL is an improvement over my Fusion in every way possible. I could easily grab a lower level Bronco like a Big Bend to hit my preferred price point and have my "look at me" moment. But, I'd be miserable because I'd be without all of the interior perks that appeal to me just as much as driving around with no roof.

So...I'm literally waiting for my dealer to call me back as we speak so I can order my BL+BL. Having the best of both worlds trumps having the most badass truck on the block with no adaptive cruise control, no advanced 4x4, no leather seats, and no B&O stereo.

Yeah, my situation is different. I have a perfectly great (tho' boring) 08 Tundra. It's my own biological clock I hear ticking! And from the Tundra to the Sport, oh, there will be shrinkage! I was in the pool!!!

I cancelled my 2 door reservation today (I had an October reservation most likely putting me at MY22). I'm pleased with the FE Sport so far, it will cure my itch until I retire in 3-4 more years. At that time I may pick up a full size once Ford gets their act together on build & price/options.
I apologize for the table format, not sure how my fat fingers made that happen.

I really like my BASE model Sport, really really like it. It does all I need without any drama or straining.
I never needed the bells and whistles so many people want. Never cared if the grass was greener over there. I don't need pampering I guess :p
My mountain biking,, I never buy Upgrades I ride up grades, Get me ?
I have a 2004 AWD escape for my bad winter weather days if I just have to go out. Its a beater, If I bang it up on the ice I'm fine with that. It's paid for with 204,000 miles and when It dies the Big bronco will be out there in large numbers with rebates and selection I bet.
This Bronco Sport will make a great beater one day :D
I'm good.

To the OP: I don’t need all the full bronco will offer. The Sport is perfect for my needs and wants. I’m not going off road but I do travel to beach and snow areas and the sport will handle both nicely.
This is pretty much my reason too. I'd be wasting most of the extra off road capabilities the full size Bronco offers.
And i can get a lot more features/options with BL+BL while getting all the off road capability that I'd ever need, while not looking too "off-roady" when driving in town/DD duty. It's just a much more "balanced" vehicle compared to the full size Bronco (in my case. )

I really don't need an off road vehicle and the size of the Sport works well for me. It will work for a trip to Home Depot or a supermarket run. Plus it looks way cooler than my Escape.

And the Sport Is not north of $38,000 plus If I needed that level of capability I'd go for a scratched up dented 4x4 pick up. I've seen rock crawling and been out on deep bush adventures.
I'm not pushing something that nice through hell.
If I roll my 4x4 over or bash it up, (Got that T-shirt) I want to be able to laugh my azz off, not cry.
I like my beaters.

I considered waiting but in the end I bought a BB off dealer lot for $28,600. Didn't want to wait and am a retiree who will never off-road unless I miss a turn ?. I wanted something cool that would be decent in snow and have good driving dynamics and comfort. Happy with my purchase.

This is a great question. I remember my premium going way up many years ago when I went from a Ford Escort to a Bronco because it was 4x4. At least, in memory that's why. I can't imagine an insurance company would cover off-roading, at least not without a supplemental package. I think I'll dig into this to write an article, thanks for the inspiration.

Progressive told me they would cover it if It gets destroyed off the road, they said that’s because I have “comprehensive coverage” I for one don’t want to find out if the agent was telling the truth or not.

Went and looked at the Sport for first time today. It looks very cool, especially in Badlands trim. Fun, sweet little rig. But, at $33k or so MSRP, it's the same price as the 4-door base model full-size Bronco. The full-size Bronco is going to be far more capable off-road, even than the Badlands Sport, and can carry passengers and cargo more comfortably. Why pick the Badlands? Or even the Big Bend/Outer Banks? Just curious.
Bought the big bend package right off the lot, went in for the badlands edition at several locations around my area and each one had several hundred pre orders for the sport. I finally asked what the deal was and was told in my home town location that they have 300 preorders, however, due to manufacturing issues ford could only supply 70 vehicles on a first ordered first to receive bases to get the vehicle. THATS MORE THAN 4 YEARS BACK ORDERED, assuming things being the way they are don’t change. Needless to say I am an impatient man!

I just wish it was like six inches longer and that that added to either cargo space or rear legroom.
I’m 6’6” rear legroom is non existent when I’m driving. But plenty of room for me.

Greetings all,

So, I was going to get the Bronco BL and even had a spot. In the end, after doing the B&P on both the Bronco and the Sport, it was a 20K difference. The realization that I would not use a Bronco like it was designed and the cost made it clear. With the price, 90mile drive to work, and “real’ use, I now have a BS BL/BL on order.

And yes, I had them both loaded. 2020 was a year of three cancers and a lovely week of being blind. It gives one a different perspective! With the push from my wife after all that, she said, get what you want.

We live in Maine so that the BS will see snow and mud and some off-roading.

Good luck all, and stay safe.

PS. IF anyone could give their Order to Vin - production - the delivery date that would be great..

Yes, I'm counting the days!
