Thanks for that insight Billy. Much appreciated. I was not aware of that function. My wife’s bb does this…I have crawled underneath and pinpointed the noise to the RDU (rear differential unit.) after looking in the shop manual, there is an electric motor that will disconnect the differential from the driveshaft, to help with MPG I’m sure. Im going to assume that this noise is a check the computer does at startup to make sure the motor and circuit are functioning.
Mine is 2021 with the 2.0 liter engine. I currently have 14000 miles on it and like you I don't recall hearing that noise until only a couple of months ago. What year BS and have you taken to dealer to check out. The noise on my 2022, 4000 miles did not make the noise from beginning. Just recently started
Yes each and every single time that I start it. I did bring it to the dealer who promptly told me, not surpringly that it is a common noise that all Bronco Sports make. The "mechanic" blamed it on computers doing self checks. Who knows. Obviously I am not the only one hearing this type of noise so maybe he is right. My only question is why did it start only two months or so ago?Does it make noise all time at startup? Are you taking to dealer?
Hi there! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this whirring noise concern for you? Thank you!Hello. Can anyone provide an opinion on what that whirring sound is that I hear seemingly coming from the rear brakes (or rear of car) when I depress the start button to start the ignition? The sound lasts at most for 3 to 4 seconds. I "suspect" that it has something to do with the braking system that kicks in, or releases on start-up. I don't know whether it is a new noise or one that I am aware of now that the weather is warm and my windows are open on start-up. Thank you for your input.
You need to send them a private message, not post that information publicly. I think they will only respond to a private message.3FMCR9D93MRA55933 Rose City Ford Windsor Ontario
As a follow up to this "noise" this morning I was at my local Ford dealer for regularly scheduled maintenance ie. oil change etc. I brought up that noise once more of course. The mechanic who was assigned to my car came outside so that I could explain to him exactly the noise that I was concerned about. When he heard it he said that it was the fuel pump kicking in when the car is started. Fortunately I spotted a new 2022 Bronco Sport on the lot with the same engine as mine (2.0 liter). I asked him if he could get the keys for it so that we could start it and see if indeed it is a noise that is common to all Bronco Sports. He did and while he started it I crouched in the rear of the car by the back tire. Sure enough the very same sound as I am hearing was emmitted from the brand new 2022 Bronco Sport. So at this point there is nothing else that I can say or do. It does appear that it is a "common" sound comming from the rear of Bronco Sports. The one mystery remaining, for me at least is why I did not hear that noise until some seven months after I had purchased the vehicleOk, thank you.
New vehicle syndrome. It's brand new; there can't possibly be anything wrong with it!The one mystery remaining, for me at least is why I did not hear that noise until some seven months after I had purchased the vehicle
