Has anyone else experienced this? After washing my vehicle at a local touchless car wash, I caught a glimpse of the plastic trim surrounding the driver’s side front wheel well. It was bowed out at the back and bottom, just behind the wheel. Upon closer inspection from the side, I noticed the space behind the trim was filled with small pebbles, stones, dirt, and other road debris. When I checked the passenger side, I found the same issue, though to a lesser extent. I had to pull the trim back to see that it, too, was full of debris. However, since the passenger side trim wasn’t as bowed out, I didn’t try to clean it.

I was able to remove most of the debris from the driver’s side, but there’s still some left on both sides. Has anyone else noticed this on their vehicles? Here are some images:

Lower window drain. My Ford F150 does it too.

Take a hose and flush water at each corner of the front windshield to clean it out at the trim corners.

Yep the rocket scientist at ford designed the under windshield trough to drain all the trash into that space with no way out. The pasenger side you'll notice is partially blocked by your washer fluid container. I partially blocked my drains with some foam lets the water drain but not the trash.

Thanks that's definitely worth checking.

Thanks for your solution! With your permission, I may copy you.

Ford, and other manufacturers have been doing this way of draining for years. You just have to clean out the debris if it builds up. Its worse if you park under trees and such.

I park the vehicle in the garage, and avoid trees in parking lots, mostly to prevent the birds from dumping their load on the paint.

There is a way out, the problem is that the "carpets" provided as skids/guards/inner wheel wells cover the flared area at the bottom/rear of the fender where some of the trash at least would simply fall out. I was stunned at the amount of leaves and debris that was jammed up in there when I swapped in my JCR mid skids. With them installed, that flare at the bottom of the fender is now open and (perhaps) less likely to rot out
