We've had two waterpumps replaced. The first at 10,000 and the second around 30,000. Hoping that's it. The leak was never visible to us and was spotted at oil changes. Apparently grit in the castings? BS 23' 51,000 today.

In the full-size, yes. Only 3 or 4 cylinder in the Sport.

My son has a 24. Just had his replaced mid Feb at 9k miles. Make sure they flush the system. There is a new version of the water pump too. Made appointment and they fixed in a day along with oil change.

As a regular forum reader I was not at all surprised or disappointed when I was told my water pump needed to be replaced in my 23 Outer Banks. Being under warranty at this point made it less painful but it will be a shrug and “sure” when it happens the next time. I loved the guy who posted he bought a replacement pump and put it in the car before giving it to his daughter.

After all ive read on here I was waiting to tell the truth. Can't believe ford got so careless on parts that could cost them more in the long run.

The old days where Ford made every part in house is long gone. Ford contracts 3rd party plants to make the parts. If that part fails that 3rd party plant is held responsible for all the replacements, labor, research and fines for supplying a faulty part. Believe me the fines alone are astronomical.

Ford's been outsourcing since 1909, and in some cases couldn't be properly termed a "manufacturer", but more appropriately an "assembler" of autos. The Model T was at least 50% outside parts. Over the years, some parts were re-insourced and then outsourced again later, but they've never been 100% self-sourced.

An online search says the water pump could be US, Mexico or China made.

If I was in your situation I would trade it in and get the Badlands with the 2.0L. I have driven both, and the 2.0L makes the Bronco Sport feel like a completely different vehicle than any of the models with the 1.5L. Also you can get one heck of a deal on the 2025 right now. I got $7100 off.
