At some point in the last 5k miles my water pump had an event and fail. Left coolant everywhere (not in my parking areas) and shredded my serpentine belt. The dealership is struggling with the belt replacement. Anyone else have this issue? It seems that it’s common here but the service writer told me not to believe the things I read here. For reference I’m located in north central CO.

Water pump going bad/leaking seems pretty common on the 1.5L. Had mine replaced around 7K miles. Many other have had yo have it done. Some more than once...

Hey there. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and then name/location of the Ford dealer you are working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your water pump repairs.

Our 22 OuterBanks went at 12k. Noticed the antifreeze smell and had to add coolant (14 oz.) to the overflow tank. Dealer found leak and did the R&R. Now at 19K, starting to catch a slight whiff of antifreeze or maybe I’m paranoid.

It's a pretty distinctive smell. Can you be more specific about the conditions when you catch a whiff? Is it while driving? When you get out of the car at a gas station? After the car has sat for a time in your garage?

The smell of coolant is pretty strong, so if you're smelling it while driving or at a gas station it's quite possible you are smelling someone else's coolant leak. If you smell it in your garage after your car has sat overnight then it's almost certainly your car.

Maybe your service writer should do a little more reading.

Don't believe everything your service writer says. :lipssealed:

After parking it in the garage is when the smell is present, not much, just a whiff. Added 10oz. in early December and in checking it this morning added 6oz. more to bring it to the cold full mark.

It sounds like you have another leak.

Dealer discovered mine was leaking at 33k miles. Part was back ordered (must be in high demand LOL) got it fixed after 2 weeks

Just dropped off my 2023 BB Bronco Sport, Coolant level went from low to way below min. , never saw any leak looked. Decided to watch after all the members here mentioned this. Car was picked up February 10, 23, after ordering it Oct.. 22. Decided to call dealer after I found out I needed different Anti Freeze. I have the good old green. Sure enough dealer said water pump 7600 miles so I gather I have the A version. Car was manufactured first week of January 2023. Dealer was great gave me a loaner Escape, they have pump version B so one day service. Advice to all is check your coolant!! I am really pleased with my Sport love it. Just figured that by January 2023 this pump issue solved., but not the case. Thanx to all like this forum a lot.

Seems to be a common problem. Bought a spare pump (version B) for my '21 so I'd have it if needed in case they were backordered again. Traded the Sport in but still have the new pump.
