Downloaded the FORscan Lite app for iOS.

I was looking for the command do display what gear I was in. I could not figure it out with the OBD Link software.

With the FORscan dashboard I found these five displays:
Transratio
TGE
Gear_Cmd
Gear
In_Gear

looks like the Gear and Gear_cmd are the two options to try.

My first OBDLink dashboard.
- from the FordLincolnMercury menu
- to the Powertrain Control Module
- searched for Gear
Selected the Gear Commanded option.

The rest of them are the standard SAE PID’s. (At least the first 21. Think there are 39)

seems like everything worked. I was connected to the General network. The Gear is on the A network, so I didn’t think it would read that on General.

I set up the logging to generate a CSV file every second. That was for all the SAE PIDs and a handful of the Powertrain PIDs.

Looks like “Transmission Gear Engaged” shows the gear we are actually in. While “Gear Commanded” is what is being requested.

Values:
70. Park
60. Reverse
50. Neutral
1. Drive first gear
3. 3rd gear
4. 4th gear
5. 5th gear
Did not get on highway so the higher gears did not show.
Did not see any second gear.
In reverse (60), gear engaged showed 128 and 130.

UPLOAD files:

To upload the CSV files automatically:

On the Settings menu.
Under Preferences
Select Sync
- activate ICloud Sync CSV log files
Or
Login to your Dropbox if you use them.

I will stay with iCloud for now.

1. it created a OBDLink folder.
2. Within that folder is a CSV logs folder.
(Means the other features like diagnostics will be uploaded to different filders)
3. Then there is a folder that looks like my VIN. Guess that is for if we are using the link with multiple vehicles !
4. And then we get to the CSV files.
Note: CSV stands for Comma Separated Values. It is easy to read and can be opened with any Spreadsheet like Excel or Numbers

What to LOG?

That has to be setup also.

Select setrings
Then select preferences
Then select Logging
1 Turned on logging
2. Set for a fixed time interval
3. Set time at 1 second
4. Then we have to select the PID’s to record (stands for Parameter ID). So select that.
5. Then we drown in choices!

there are 8 groupings.

For this test, I selected all 69 of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) default PID’s

NOTE: The Ford/Lincoln/Mercury option may not show. This was a custom add in they sell. It was free with the device
Think that was

1. settings
2. Get Enhanced OEM Add-Ons

3. Select Ford Lincoln Mercury
4. select Ford 2023 Enhanced Diagnostics

BUT… It might have been inder
1. Settings
2. User Defined PID’s
…

I also Selected 26 Power Control Module in the Ford Mercury Lincoln addons (all under Powertrain Control Module. It appears to be more because each group has some common file like VIN)

thus selected a number of general items in all the other A network groups.

A I believe is the High Speed Network
B I believe is the Medium Speed Network

When we connect, it appears we can only connect to either the SAE, the A or the B network at a time.

In this test I was connected to the SAe, and it seems to have read the A network at the same time.

The Map feature looks nice.
This was my first trip with the OBD installed.

It only recorded MPH in my initial setup.
