Help me out. Where’s the 1.5 hate? I see some 2.0 preferences… but hate?
Spread out on this forum in various other threads and posts.

There are a couple of members that post against the 1.5 with their opinions less than desirable. Hopefully bringing the attention to the issue will keep them from continuing.

I believe readers infer "hate" when they see adjectives such as garbage, junk, etc. used by many posters to describe the 1.5L Dragon engine.

I've had my '23 OBX for about a year and a half now. I have taken 2 major trips of over 1000 miles. Not a bit of trouble and about 35 MPG on the Interstate. What's not to love? I'm like many others who wish they could have ordered the 2.0 for a little more power, but overall, I don't think the 1.5 is that bad.

This is true if you buy parts and labor from a dealership. Not so much if you can do the work yourself or have access to an independent shop you trust.
Labor cost can be variable, and sometimes someone really enterprising like a person wtih FORscan and an OBD II reader can save certain operations (like retraining lane keeping after a windshield change), but in terms of parts, a lot of that is at the mercy of the dealer. When my BS got hit by a deer, the headlight part cost over $1100. Searching that part online, that was actually on the lower end of prices for that part. My trusted auto body shop was not able to get it cheaper. The Badlands sticker on the driver door alone was a $60+ part. I saw it for around $50 online. The price my dealer would have charged for the part was essentially equal (labor could be a different story).

While deer hitting cars is a random event and not a warranty issue, it leads me to the point that going external will not necessarily lead to much cheaper parts. Perhaps for things like an engine oil filter, or tires, or cabin air filters, or vehicle batteries these are things were compatible third party parts can be had for less, but other parts are going to come from Ford and are not going to be drastically different in prices, even if you order them yourself.

Also different is when there's SSMs for these vehicles where the end result is updating a module. Assuming even if it is possible in FORScan (you can get the updated software/firmware and flash via FORScan), you are doing so at your own risk... when you're in warranty at a dealer, they're able to do it, and if the update tanks the part, then it's on them to replace the part at Ford's cost, and the labor cost to do so.

(Not to mention SSMs that come out after you're out of the manufacturers warranty for time or mileage - with Ford Protect, these are included parts & labor operations...)

Agreed. Like I've said 100x on here the 1.5 is a great engine that offers plenty of power and reliability. My favorite is when folks on here say they are scared to drive the 1.5 because they don't have enough power and might get rear ended on the highway.

If 180 HP can't get you safely onto a highway you are objectively a bad driver and should switch to bicycles. ??‍♂
Oh, sure. Turn them into entitled bicyclists. ?

I was gonna comment how much better the 2.0 is vs the 1.5 but then....(this was a joke in case someone wanted to take it serious)

Sniff, sniff...(wipe tear). Listen all haters are gonna hate...sniff, sniff....I just had someone tell me their full size Bronco is Better than my...my...my Bronco Raptor....bawl!!!!!

Hahaha.......hahaha.....see what I mean!!!

Come on... I haven't been on this site for a while and this goes on everywhere. It doesn't make it right and I don't like it either.

I like all Bronco's having an Early 1974 Bronco, a Bronco Sport, and a Bronco Raptor.

For the record; my 1.5 has been just fine. Lots of power, good mpg. It’s the strange electrical gremlins that bug me sometimes.
I'm hoping that the upcoming recall to reprogram the battery management software will fix what I think is the most widespread issue with these cars.

I don't get why anyone would say negative things about the 1.5L Dragon engine. Sure there have been recalls, but the issues seem to be resolved for most owners. I think my Big Bend has plenty of pep when I need it. Gets good fuel economy too for an AWD SUV in its class. (Hybrids exluded)

I have ZERO issues with mine. Does what I want when I need it and it's fun to drive. I owned a 2017 Focus ST with the 2.0L Ecoboost engine. It's a great motor and that was a fun car as well. Not as convenient and practical as the Bronco Sport is. Especially when the snow falls.
