I just put Falken Wildpeak A/T 235/65R17 on my Base and they are great tires. Admittedly I’ve only done a few inclines in dry conditions, but much more versatile than the Base stock tires / wheels.

Do 245's and call it a day. You'll thank yourself later.
This is what I did. Read a bunch of posts here about what's the largest tire I could go with without rubbing, and without a lift. 245/65r17.

I plan on a 125lb roof top tent, and camping gear. So I may need a lift if it starts rubbing.

How is the road noise on this tire?
I have not picked up my BS from my dealer yet, hopefully this weekend. My son has them on a Jeep Grand Cherokee though. He can hear the road noise and doesn't like it. Personally I can't hear it like he does so I don't mind it, but my hearing has diminished over the years. Depends on your tolerance I guess, everyone is different. Some like the aggressive beefier sound. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Edit: Something that is on my mind though, going from a factory 225 to a 245, heavier tire, add to that a roof top tent and other gear, and people, going up forest road inclines... will the 1.5L be able to push it...

I ended up ordering the Wildpeak A/T3s. Should arrive Thursday and I hope to get them mounted on Friday.

Edit: I should mention I bought them in 235/65/17s.

Larger tires will change your speedo reading too, unless you recalibrarte the speedo. If you don't, your speedo reading will be lower than your actual speed. Keep this in mind when you look a mpg readings.

I read somewhere on this forum that if my Speedo says 70mph. It’s more like 69 mph. Is that accurate?

Going on a road trip to DC this weekend from Ohio and I’m curious how much it will be off.

I'm interested in getting some more aggressive looking tires than the stock Continentals that come with the BS Big Bend.

I will be keeping the stock wheels as I like how they look. The two tires choice brands are the Wildpeak A/T Trail or the Open Country A/T III.

So I was set on getting the 235s, but the 245s have me intrigued. I'm thinking about doing 1.5" lift in the next few months.

So do I need a lift if I get the 245s or will I be okay for the time being? I'm not super concerned about my mpg dropping a little bit.

Or can I get the lift and have the 235s?

Thanks for your help!

-Zach
I just did a 2" lift with 245s on my Outer Banks and it turned out great. I think without a lift 245s might have been a little tight.

That looks sharp!

I still plan to do a lift with the 235s. Not sure if I want 1.5” or 2”.
