Currently have the z17 all 4 corners with damond Motorsport caliper bushings as well. And it's definitely better than stock pads.

Going to swap to the z36 and drilled and slotted power stop rotors soon though. Waiting on rotors to ship

Nice, why are you going with drilled/slotted rotors? For me, regular rotors is fine, not doing any towing or hauling heavy stuff.

I wanted just slotted but couldn't find any I liked or trusted buying from available for this car. And these were actually cheaper than the slotted i wasn't sure about. But I thought looked better.

I've always thought the brakes on this car were terrible.

Not wanting this to happen again, i want my wife to be able to stop and not have to make evasive maneuvers, resulting in an accident.

I have to replace my rear brake pads soon and I was wondering on what pads people are using. I remember few people using Power Stop pads and it helped in reducing the back up moan a bit. Any opinions? Thanks.
It appears this kit includes ceramic pads. In general, semi-metallic brake pads provide the greatest friction, and therefore the best stopping performance. Their disadvantages include greater noise (especially if you're using slotted/drilled rotors), greater wear on other brake components (especially rotors, due to the greater friction), and more brake dust.

"Just, fine" with regards to brakes, suspension and steering components IMHO is a contradiction of terms. If I'm swapping out worn parts, I get the very best I can afford. Drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pad kits can be had even off Amazon for around $500, a couple hundred or so (if that) over OEM. Those kits exceed factory specs for safety and will undoubtedly last longer, that's the route I intend to go. Only ff I was about to trade the rig in would I go OEM.

Years ago, C&D magazine did a test of several brake pads with stock rotors, as well as ~3 "big brake kits" -- which required larger wheels. They happened to use the same car I had/have -- a 2002 Subaru WRX -- but the results should apply to any vehicle.

IIRC, they did a series of 90 > 0 (or maybe 5 mph) stops, with a 30 second cool-down in between.

In a nutshell, there was relatively little difference between the various pads. Some stopped slightly shorter than others, but all faded greatly after the first or second stop. I installed the the best performing pads -- Hawk HP+ -- and they destroyed the front rotors within ~20,000 miles -- and my driving was almost all rural roads and interstates. I often downshifted to slow down. Needless to say, I didn't use the Hawk pads again...

The big brake kits were able to repeatedly stop from 90 mph (no fade) but their stopping distance was the same -- presumably because if the stock brakes can generate enough torque to lock the wheels, then big brake kits have no advantage there.

Regarding noise vs performance, since you are only replacing the rear pads, and the rear brakes are typically only responsible for ~20-25% of the braking, if you are concerned about noise you might consider focusing on that attribute rather than maximum performance, since the difference in performance is generally not that great.
