My sunshade for my sunroof slowly began to retract and tear off of the metal sliding bar it was attached to. It seems that I will need part M1PZ-78519A02-AA replaced but the two dealers I told said it would be a long wait to address the issue. I can’t leave my car overnight without a rental. How can I get this repaired and shouldn’t it be under warranty?

Warranty would depend on what happened to it, or what the dealer determines they believe happened.

Well I'll be a sonofagunn. Will be a true test in the summer sun. Supply chain can still an issue unfortunately. What a great color though.

@OP:

Is your vehicle still under manufacturer warranty? If so, get in the queue for a replacement now. Ford dealers are 2-3 weeks out in my area for repairs, even if it's a minor one. I would also speak with the service manager (not advisor) and see if they can get you a dealer demo as a loaner during the repair. Not a good chance they will but it's worth it. You should also check to see if your insurance has rental reimbursement for repairs, too. You may have to fork over the $$ for the rental but your insurance would pay you back. My State Farm policy has this coverage.

If it's a 2023 and less than the warranty mileage, then yes, it should be covered.

Yes, it’s definitely still under the bumper to bumper warranty since it’s 2023 and only 7K miles. My question is do they allow me to bring it in and order the part and I bring it back to repair it or do I have to leave it for weeks?

Sounds like all questions for your service person. We don't know their policies and thoughts. If you feel the vehicle is drivable (I certainly would), then I would be upset if they made me leave it while waiting for a part.

That depends strictly on the dealer. I'd venture that you would have to at least leave your car with them for a while so a tech can do the proper documenation on OASIS.

I wish dealers were more flexible with warranty claims, but they usually are not.
