Sudden Turbo Flutter?

I dailied this as recently as 2020 when the transmission went, and loved it. But. The 160hp or so it had when new needed all the help it could get from my mouth engine sounds to add 5hp in any effort possible to keep up with modern traffic. Because foot to the floor driving was the norm & you wished the floor was just a little bit lower.

Crawling around out on the two track trails is fun but slamming throttle in the sand, no thanks. It sounds like it’s being tortured.
This is why I never buy used cars.
My one and only time taking the car off road. I just thought I'd try it. It's not my cup of tea. I live in a city. But it was interesting to see if the car would allow you the break traction. Even with TC off it felt like it was holding your hand. If I can't live out my inner Colin McRae then I'll stick to the road.
