This just happened to my 2023 Bronco Sport Outer Banks. Dealer said the evap canister was broken by coming down on a rock, and the repair was not covered under warranty, so I ended up paying just under $1000 to replace it. I'd like to avoid this happening again. Does anyone have recommendations on what skid plate I should buy? I'm definitely no a mechanic, so I'd need to pay someone else to install it.
Only ones available are from JCR offroad.
@NMhunter just installed them.

100% agree.
I don't see how this is Ford's fault...at all. Ford offers an off-road oriented trim (the Badlands) of the Bronco Sport that comes with factory bash plates. You could have purchased a Badlands if you intended to go off road, but you didn't. How is that Ford's fault?

This is hilarious sarcasm, right? Ford literally bills the Bronco Sport (not just Badlands) as being able to handle “virtually any terrain you encounter.”

Seems the badlands only has the felt to protect the canister too.

Well there’s some metal too on the badlands (at least on my model year) under that drivers side felt. How well it protects i don’t know

No, not sarcasm. Note that the Bronco Sport in this picture is the BADLANDS, not the Outer Banks. The Outer Banks cannot ford water that deep, has less ground clearance, and--as you now know--is not equipped with bash plates.

There are different trim levels of the Bronco Sport, just like there are different trim levels for pretty much every vehicle sold. It's up to the buyer to make sure they get the trim level appropriate to their needs.

When I ordered my BS BL, It said it had skid plates. It did have one over the evap tank but not the gas lines and I think there's a fuel pump under there. I ordered the skid plates from JCR Offroad and just finished installing it today. They have a video on how to do it, but it wasn't for a Badlands. Under the carpet "skid plate" which I ripped off the first time I took it off road, there is a gas tank skid plate, which I believe lesser models don't have. The gas skid is bolted on with Button Head Torx bolts which have permanent Loctite on them. Once I burned the Loctite off with a mini butane torch, it was relatively easy to take off. But before I did, I stripped one bolt and had to cut it off. Once the gas tank skid is off, it is a relatively easy install. My gas skid plate is severely scratched, and it was under the carpet. The main advice for the install is to buy some cobalt drill bits, a center punch, and some kind of drill extension. Using DeWalt bits, which I thought were high quality, it took me 1/2 hour to drill the first hole, and my new DeWalt bits were trash. The cobalt bits were good, but after drilling 5 holes, they were worn out too. Start out with a small bit and work up. I have a floor jack, so I could do it by myself, but a buddy to hold things up while you bolt it would work as well. If you have a Badlands, you'll have to trim the gas tank skid to re-install it. 1 cut a notch about 4-1/2" wide by 1-1/2" deep in order to make it fit.

I'm very happy with the skid plate, but can't decide if it is worth the effort to put the one on the other side on. There doesn't seem to be anything important on that side. The photo shows what the skip plate covers. JCR also sells skids for the gas tank if yours doesn't have one.

A service manager told me that the escape and other not 4WD models do have a skid plate there. Go figure.

There's a heat shield on the wife's Escape 2020, but it's not meant to protect the fuel tank from rocks like a skid plate.
