This is a video of the disassembly of a 10 speed 10R80 Transmission, not sure if it is what is used in the BS , but most likely a Mustang , but it gives you an idea of how complex these tranny's have become in some ways . I didn't get any sound , but they label stuff .
At 48 min. he disassembles the Valve Body . The black gasket looking thing may be the Separator Plate .

Ford Bronco Sport uses the 8F35 (8 speed, FWD orientation, 350 Nm design-torque). The 10R80 is 10-speed, RWD orientation, 800 Nm design-torque.

I posted some background info on the 8F35 over here:

https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/the-oddity-of-close-2-3-gear-spacing-and-the-ford-8f35-8-speed-automatic-in-bs.3949/

(350 Nm ~= 258 lb-ft of torque)

… wanted to show how complicated modern ones are …
Agreed. If I find a nice public teardown-analysis of an 8F35 I'll be sure to post it.

Of course the full "theory of operation" writeup on the 8F35 + PTU in the Ford Service Manual would be the nicest writeup, but that one isn't typically something you can re-post. :-/

Well, here is an update. I replied to another members thread experiencing the same issues.

The Bronco started slipping while shifting into first gear a while ago. This is after the valve body was replaced.

Ford finally decided to replace our transmission as well. We are currently waiting for the tranny to get here. Meanwhile, the vehicle is operable, and slips while shifting into first gear. It does seem to be getting worse, so I have suggested she babies it until the parts arrive. I will definitely update when this is all finished.

I'm trying to collect some information about whether the resident Ford rep here on the forum is actually helping anyone. Did you happen to receive an invite to contact the forum Ford rep? If so, were they at all helpful?
