I used Safelite but to install a replacement Ford OEM windshield - no issues with Safelite - also you might try asking State Farm again - look at your windshield and take pics - mine says Ford and shows the Ford emblem - that’s the reason my insurance company ok’d the use of Ford OEM glass

Also see these posts for more discussion of safelite

I’m biased in this regard as my Father worked for Car-lite glass (Ford) and my brother owned his own glass shop. But, I used safelite to replace the side glass on the LEXUS as they could do it the soonest during Covid. The issue I have with Safelite is they have the most business because they are the cheapest for the insurance, not the best. Like any business, there are good people and bad people. My brother has retired for many years yet many people in northeast Ohio with classic cars, still get recommended to him to replace their glass. The new windshields are all just glued in. It’s not difficult but can be easily screwed up. The federal government has a minimum specification for all windshields. These are considered part in the structural safety of the vehicle. I wouln’t get too concerned either way.

Safelite did an OEM repair for us, but it cost us. Most insurance companies won't pay for it no matter how new the vehicle is. Best to do OEM too, as the third party replacement doesn't have all the connections.

Are you saying you had the windshield repaired or replaced? I have seen in most cases they (insurance) will repair without any charge to you or deductible.

Replaced. It got hit by a rock on the highway. Or insurance would not pay for OEM replacement, so we paid $575.

Still waiting. Between StateFarm and Safelite we still don’t have approval or schedule. That’s in FL where glass is covered 100%. They first had it put in for our 22 Full-size.

Ok, that makes more sense. I’ve never heard where they wouldn’t try to fix it for free first. Replacing is is a whole different story. But I can say, when my Lexus side window was blown out, I was given the option of waiting a month or two for a OEM version or get the Safelite the next day. Now that was during Covid so not normal times.

If you have the adaptive cruise control you may need to have the cameras recalibrated. If so make sure your local Safelite can do that. Mine couldn't for my Rivian and I took it to a certified collision center. Insurance covered the whole thing.

Completed. Doesn’t look factory installed. Gaps are different around perimeter. Can see paint through little gap between windshield and rubber on pillars. Larger gap at roof line revealing a wavy line adhesive when looking. Installed straight otherwise.

Did you tell the Tech to remove and do it again correctly
