Hello - Has anyone here had any success in using Ultrasonic Rodent Repellent devices for vehicle engines? Also, do these products interfere with the vehicle's electrical/electronic systems?

Thanks!

I’ve got one in my garage that seems to work but then I also have one in the attic that doesn’t. I’ve never had one in the vehicle so I can’t help there.

Thanks for the reply! Do you recall the Brand/type of device that is working in your garage?

Grrrr, last year I went to replace the turn signal bulb on the right-front of my Wifes Escape...but noooooooo....

It was a mouse nest/feeding area. I was a Tomcat fixer (Navy guy fixing F-14's) so wiring is something I excel at...and it still sucked. No room to work a t all.

Thanks a lot - appreciate it!
It appears the ones I have are no longer available. It was a six pack of small devices that plugged directly into the wall.

We live in the woods, so mice are everywhere.

The Badlands is kept in the garage but we've had mice make nests in the headliner twice. The last time was above the front console. They damaged the PC board and now the passenger side light does not work.

We also have a small RV. Many of the owners on RV forums complain about problems with mice and squirrels. I've read a lot about various rodent deterrents over the years -- Irish Spring bar soap; peppermint; dryer sheets; cayenne pepper; moth balls; ultrasonic audio devices, etc. For every person that swears by one method or another there is someone else (or several people) who say it doesn't work.

When researching products, I find it's helpful to read 1-star reviews first. Almost all products have a fairly high percentage of 4/5-star reviews, but many are some variation of "Works well" or "Good product" and may be fake. Of course the 1-star reviews are not all valid either -- there are shipping issues; incorrect/used products, and operator error. Still, disregarding those usually leaves plenty of legit 1-star reviews. The rodent repellers I've looked at have enough 1-star reviews that I didn't bother buying them.

Not mice — had rat problems, fortunately in garage; attic; crawl space . . . not in car. Finally got rid of them and found these things worked best:
1) glue traps — only ya gotta’ be strong to dispatch the squeaking critters.
2) battery powered electric rat trap/killer — zaps the little b ———ds instantly, no-muss-no-fuss.
3) anti-rodent pouches (no sure what all they contain, but it ain’t poisonous) from BugMD. Place the pouches where you need them, and replace every month or so. This one isn’t cheap, but they seem to be effective — so far.

I like to use the old fashion live trap and then teach them to swim. As I’ve stated before, I fail miserably as a rodent swim instructor.

I live in the Natx4ional Forest, in New Mexico. I have had mice constantly, so I use a old farm trap that DOES WORK. A simple bucket. Fill the bucket or pail about 2/3 to 3/4 full of water. Put a block, 3"X4" of wood in the water so it is floating. Prop a 2X4 board leaning on the bucket to the lip or edge. This is important, but attach either cardboard on the side of the 2x4 as a railing for the entire length. (Mice run with their whiskers touching the wall, they panic when they loose contact.) Place the end of the 2x4 against the wall as well as the bucket. Spread some Peanut Butter on the 2x4, and the Block that floats. Mother nature will take care of the problem. Just remember to empty the bucket of any swimmers once a week or so. I have used this method for 25 years and caught a lot of thirsty and hungry mice and a couple of rats, I mean squirrels. lol Now if you want to spend money, they sell this same setup on Amazon. Good Luck, and you can use Lowes or Home Depot buckets, they don't care. Rodger

Dude I have to know, how the hell did they get into your headliner!?

I wish I knew!

I was thinking perhaps through the vents in the rear that allow air to exit the cabin. They look like outdoor dryer vents with several flaps that get blown open by air pressure. They're normally closed, but appear light enough that mice could lift, or chew through, them. I was going to inspect them but after reading what's involved I decided against it (they're behind the rear bumper).

I'm not aware of any known access points, only suggestions as to where they might be entering.

In the past, I looked into the electric traps that zap them but like so many other products, the (seemingly legit) 1-star reviews were discouraging. I'll have to check again.

Of course, even if there is a trap that works -- and even if we use several of them -- there's no way kill all of the mice. We will probably still have a problem. I'd love to know how they are getting into the cabin.
